Recovery Time for a Dog After Being Spayed?

My dog that is 1 and a half year old had her spay surgery on July 9th. Is it too soon to play fetch with her? She is a Husky and has tons of energy and isn't in pain and the incision is completely closed. The check up with the vet went very well and I was told she looks better than she should for day 10.

I would call the vet back to check. Incisions close in the outside could still be healing on the inside. The vet will give you the best and safest answer.

Prayers for a full and quick heal for your fur child! Thanks for taking care of her and getting her spayed!! Give her a hug!

I would phone the Vet on this one. I am sure walks would be fine and burn off a little energy. But I would check with the Vet before playing fetch.

A female spay is more complicated than a male neuter surgery.. No, it is not okay for a recent surgery such as a spay to allow the dog to run, jump or even climb stair steps, hop and jump up/down from furniture...it must remain calm and have quiet playtime. I slept on the floor with my dogs when they were spayed just to be sure they did not do something early of a morning when they first woke up that could cause a problem for them.

I also put a leash on my dog indoors during the daytime and kept it close to me so I could watch it closely. Our girls came through just fine.

You could place the dog in a crate or doggie playpen while it's recuperating as long as it doesn't get too over active and you can take it on very short walks to go potty outside. Let the dog enjoy the smells of the outdoors and get some fresh air w/o running.
