How long for a dog to recover from Parvo:
- If your dog is being treated by the vet this can take a few days to a week to notice a difference in the dog.
- The first few days the dog will mostly sleep and not want to eat or drink.
- This is when you must give the dog water or other fluids the vet recommends you to give the dog.
- Some vet's will send home the dog with a few IV fluids for you to give the dog.
- Your dog more than likely was given a shot at the vet's to help the dog stop vomiting.
- The hardest thing in all of this is to not let your dog get dehydrated.
- When my dog had Parvo it spent 1 week at the vet's before I could bring him home again.
- If you have a second dog at home make sure the dog is current on all of his/her shots.
- You'll need to continue to clean your home and yard with a 50/50 solution of bleach and water.
- Even if you think the dog is fine the virus can stay in your yard and home for a long time.
- Each time you leave the home and go in the yard, you are tracking the virus back into your home on the soles of your shoes.
- That is why you need to clean your home often to make sure you kill the virus completely.

It can take a few weeks to recover from parvo. If your other dog has his shots it should be OK to allow contact. If not, you must keep him away. There should be no diarrhea or vomiting for 24 hours before giving food.

Parvo.
Step 1
Make sure the other dog has his shots first.
Step 2
It takes a couple of weeks for them to get over the virus.
Step 3
You have to clean everything with javex to kill the virus,dog toy's,rugs,dog beds etc.
Step 4
It can last up to a year in the yard.
Step 5
So the other dog must have his shots.

It is the 6th day since our dog stopped eating. She is on IV fluids. She is 5 months old and have had all her vaccines, which unfortunately did not protect her.
There is no blood in her vomit nor stools. However, she still continues to vomit yellow foam which is the bile from the stomach after drinking water. The vet advised not to force feed her and increased the IV dose. Is this usual?
The whole family is devastated right now and we are all praying for her recovery. After I read some comments I get optimistic that she would recover; but then there is the thought that she may not and only the medication is actually keeping her alive.
If anyone can share experience with parvo which lasted longer than the usual recovery period with vomiting continuing for more that 6 days would be great.
