Remedy for Sensitive Facial Skin?

My skin is really sensitive, when I scratch my face is gets extremely red. When I take my makeup off I get blotchy red skin all over my face specially my forehead. My skin is itchy and gets red patches sometimes where it itches. Could I be allergic to something? What should I do?

You could have an allergy, or rosacea. I would see a dermatologist if I were you.

I would suggest you see a dermatologist because it could be a number of things and will probably not get any better until you find out what is causing this so you can start a healing regiment.

It could be your make-up (even if you have been using it for a long time) or even what you are using to remove your make-up. It could be medication - even over the counter type.

When you prepare for your doctor visit, do not wear any make up and either take your make-up and cleaner with you or write down the names. Make a list of any medications you take. Also, tell them when this started.

Tests will be expensive (unless you have very good insurance) so try to find out as much as you can - what to do and what not to do - without undergoing any tests. Tell the doctor you will eliminate whatever he says and follow his instructions.

Post back what they say and maybe someone can help you with a "home" solution to try.

I dont think its my makeup i use a concealer and it doesnt irratate it. It gets most irrated when I take my makeup off thats when it gets blotchy red.

The only thing I might add to cybergrannie's great advice is to check with your parents to see if they had these issues and if so what was the diagnosis and what did they do for relief. I have skin issues (minor) almost identical, and in the same places, as my mom!

Take stock of any changes to your make up, detergent, and diet. Are there new things? Extra stress? Weather changes? Schedule changes?

I suggest keeping a journal of your day and when you have the issues and take it to your pcp.

Record what you eat, drink, use on your face and skin, the times and dates and if the reaction is immediately or after what period of time. Record everything! Did you get new sheets or towels? New carpet? Fresh paint?

This will help your pcp decide if he/she can treat or if you need a referral to an allergist, dermatologist or other specialist. Call today! I would not let this go on too long!

Prayers! Post back what the doctor says!!!

The red blotchy skin happens when I take my makeup off even if I use sensitive makeup wipes. It gets red if I use facial washes but recently Ive found one that doesnt irratated it.

I have acne maybe that makes it worse?

Acne could be adding to the situation. There are many safe treatments these days that didn't exist when I was younger. Talk to your doctor and see what she or he recommends. I have heard great things about light therapy!! Take care and post back what you learn. Everyone should get their own medical advice, but it is interesting to hear what people have success with so they can ask THEIR doctor if it is right for them!!

One last aside I stopped using all products on my face many years ago...nothing...no make up, no products. In the winter if I have chapping I may use a dab of Vaseline (the old fashioned original, plain with nothing in it). It has worked well for me and stopped not only the acne, but all issues with redness.

I know most people can't live without their makeup, but I couldn't deal with the issues it caused. That is just me though!!

Blessings to you!!
