Removing Dye That Transferred in the Wash?

My daughter's 100% polyester cheer jacket is maroon on the bottom and white on the top. After washing in cold water, on the delicate cycle it looks pink where it should be crisp white. What is a mother to do? I have washed it with 2 color grabber sheets already.

You can soak it in a 5 gallon pail of hot tap water to which you have added 2T each hydrogen peroxide and powdered dishwasher detergent. Soak overnight and wash as usual in the morning.

You can try soaking this in the sink with 1 gallon of cold water and 1 cup of white vinegar for 30 minutes. Rinse this in cold water and air dry.

Rot also has a color remover that you can try to get the dye out of the white jacket. You will need to follow the directions on the package.

Sometimes it is very difficult to remove color run from polyester but I have used ammonia with blue Dawn (or laundry detergent) that worked.
Solution mixture: 1 gallon warm water and add approximately 2 teaspoons Dawn and 4 tablespoons ammonia - keep checking but let soak 30 minutes - rinse in clear water and then wash as usual but do not dry until you see if it worked.
This worked on red color run on white polyester and did not fade the red but all materials do not react in the same manner so keep close watch if you decide to try this.

Some suggest using a color safe bleach but again, not all fabrics react in the same manner.

You might find a method to try on one of these sites - just be sure it states for use with polyester.
