Polyester is a form of plastic. You're getting the ironing marks because you have the iron too hot and it's burning/melting the material. In the future, turn the pants inside out and iron the wrong side OR get an ironing cloth that protects the clothing from burning. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way.

Though the marks are hard to get out you can rub the spot lightly with steel wool if the material is not too thin. It takes the shine out.

I could restore my new trousers back to their original look. Just do it lightly and carefully.

Should the steel wool be wet or set while rubbing the cloth?

Olive oil??? Boil them???? Black marker??? I am dying over here.... someone is actually trolling a clothing care forum. This is so hilarious. People, in case it wasn't obvious: Do NOT put oil on your clothes, it will stain. Do NOT boil polyester, it will destroy it. And for criminy sakes do NOT draw with marker on your fabric!!!

The one which make the most sense to me is 1) rub very very lightly with steel wool if the fabric is not too thin and 2) next time iron inside out or with a fabric guard between the iron and cloth. Have a blessed day yall.
