I had a plug-in air freshener over my bathroom sink and it leaked into the face bowl. There is an ugly yellow stain that I have tried everything to remove. Please offer a solution to remove it without replacing the whole counter top.

I have a friend who has two round yellow stains (each about 3 inches in diameter) and he can't get rid of them. We don't know the cause of the stains because they were there when he moved in. He has tried bleach, soft scrub, and a lemon juice/baking soda paste and nothing works. What should he do?
I still did not get an answer one way or another. What should I do to clear this stain??
