Repairing a Stain on an Oak Coffeetable?

A wet tea bag on top of a folded paper towel was placed on top of my oak coffee table for approximately 1 1/2 hours which resulted in a large stain. It looks like the area was lightened and I have not been able to return it to the original surrounding stain color. I tried the hot iron and cotton towel which did not work. Any suggestions?

Try scraping the surface gently to remove the tea stain. Go over that with a wood crayon that matches the rest of the table. Then apply a few drops of polyurethane with a toothpick

Mix equal parts water and olive oil and apply with a soft cloth. Try toothpaste, mayonnaise, or vaseline. Rub in with a soft cloth until the spot is gone.
