Ribbon and Button Flower Brooch - finished wine colored ribbon flower pinThis flower is easy and fun to make. I have turned mine into a brooch by adding a pin to the back, but it can also be used in other ways such as for a hair clip, on gift wrap, or pin it to your handbag/purse.

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Fold a piece of ribbon in half and make a back stitch.
  2. Ribbon and Button Flower Brooch - fold ribbon in half and backstitch
     
  3. Then make running (gathering) stitches.
  4. Ribbon and Button Flower Brooch - running stitches
     
  5. Take another piece of ribbon and fold it in half. Continue to make running stitches.
  6. Ribbon and Button Flower Brooch - fold next piece of ribbon in half and continue making running stitches
     
  7. Continue in the same way with all of the lengths of ribbon.

  9. Pull gently to gather and secure with a back stitch. Do not cut the thread.

  11. Choose a button and sew it to the centre of the flower.

  13. Secure it behind with a back stitch.

  15. Sew the brooch pin to the back.

  17. Cut a square of felt to fit inside the pin to cover the stitching.

  19. Round off the corners and apply glue.

  21. Stick the felt in place.

  23. Make sure the glue has dried thoroughly before wearing your brooch.
