When you go to use a straw for your drink, just run it under the tap to clean any dust that maybe inside. I use straws to drink my green tea as I use honey and cinnamon and the cinnamon sinks to the bottom.
I didn't think about rinsing my straws until I saw a picture online with a spider in it! I rinse them ALWAYS now! :D

Most straws are covered in paper so I don't understand the dust and spider thing. If I'm in my car at the drive thru, I don't think I'm going to be able to rinse the straw first. I'm a little confused by your post.
I have a box of straws that are not individually wrapped and the box top has been torn off, so from now on I will rinse a straw before using it. Good tip.
