Safe Disposal of Medicine

Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,298 Posts

Safe Disposal of Medicine - disposal box at pharmacyI went to get my flu shot and I am pleased to say we now have a medication disposal drop off box at our local CVS.

This is perfect because I have a zip lock bag filled with medication that has either expired, is no longer needed, or medication that didn't work for our family. This is the perfect way to safely clean out our home and know we are properly disposing of the medication. You can try calling the local pharmacy in your area and see if this is an option.

I'll check with our local CVS store and see if they have it too. I also have a bag of medications that I need to dispose of.

Yes, definitely check. If not there are other options to properly dispose of medication.

You can try your local pharmacy CVS or Walgreens. As well as selected Police Department so you will have to search in your area and there are Drug Take Back Programs.

My local Sheriffs Department here in rural Ohio has one of these. If your local pharmacies dont have one, contact local law enforcement to learn of locations. If there is no box available, there is usually a collection day where you can turn in unused medications.

That is wonderful!

The police department only selected locations offer drop off (just 2) it is further for me to go there then to drop off at my local pharmacy. It is newly placed so I am happy to find a better option to properly dispose.
