Try doing a search on Google, or call a military recruiting office. They might be able to give you a telephone number.

Do a search on "coupons for troops" here on Thriftyfun and you should get a couple hits. This is where I got started. I currently send coupons to a family in Germany and they take out what they want and then share the rest with friends.

Its an inexpensive way to help our troops and their families and you get to know some new people too.

Okay, I did some searching and found an old post with the info you need.

I sent an email here "Toni Anderson" <couponsfortroops AT gmail.com> and received a reply with a military address about a month later.

Good luck.

I read that we can send coupons to our service men and women overseas. I definitely want to do that. I need the address, etc. so I can do that and spread the word to my other friends. I am retired, so I have lots of time on my hands.

There is actually a group you get in contact with and they match you up with a military family overseas. That family is part of a chain , after they go through the coupons they pass them on to other families on the base. I do it with a family in Austria.

CouponsToTroops.com is another site that can match you up with a military family who is stationed overseas. Just send them an email at admin@couponstotroops.com and let them know that you'd like to be matched up with a military family to mail coupons to.

Overseas military bases will accept coupons up to 6 months after their expiration date. It takes several weeks for the coupons to be processed before they reach the hands of military personnel. Only manufacturer's coupons, no coupons that have been printed from the internet, and no 'in store' coupons.

Just the other day the Everyday Cheapskate newsletter had some information on this:

Dear Mary,
I heard that you can send expired coupons to military families because they still can use them on the base. Do you know if this is true? If it is, how can we go about sending these coupons if we don't personally know a military family, but want to help? Lori W., email

Dear Lori,
What you hear is true, but only overseas military base commissaries accept expired manufacturer's coupons up to six months past the printed expiration date. Don't start sending willi-nilly. Only certain bases are set up to receive coupons.

There's an organization run completely by volunteers, called the Overseas Coupon Program (ocpnet.org). This website will give you all the information to adopt a specific military base that needs and wants your coupons. It will tell you what to send, what not to send and how to send. Even the smallest donation of manufacturer's coupons will make a difference in the lives of many military families serving our country overseas. Just imagine if every EC reader jumped on board and adopted a military base. Together we could make a big impact!

www.couponstotroops.com/ also has some information on how to find a military family to send to.

Some suggestions are checking with your local veterans organizations (such VFW, American Legion, Marine Corps League) or any service organization (Lions Club, Rotary, Kiwanis, Moose Club, DAR, etc) to see if they are currently running any coupon collecting projects where you can physically drop off the coupons to them.

If you cannot find a project in your area, then you can talk to your friends and neighbors, co-workers, to see if they know of any military families stationed overseas who might want to be on the receiving end of coupons and you can mail directly to them.

Remember that it costs the same amount of money to send coupons directly overseas as it does to send to a local group, so if you're going to be mailing, you might as well just mail direct, otherwise the group doing the collecting is paying postage for a 2nd time for the same batch of coupons.

HI! For those interested in helping military families overseas. I am a military wife stationed in Italy and although you can send the coupons directly to the commissary I still have never heard or seen of these. I just found out about the use of expired coupons a few weeks ago. So, if any one is interested I could give my APO address to receive the coupons, and I sure could not use all of them I just have a family of 2, but I would disperse them between the ladies in my church (15-20 families) I know they would appreciate them and most of them have between 2-5 children. If you are interested email me @ cdb030321 AT yahoo.com for my address.
Thanks, Christy

Overseas coupon program gives you a list of all the bases and their addresses overseas that accept expired coupons. They also let you know which bases are in need of more coupons and which ones are receiving more than enough so that you can choose to send them where they are most needed. The website is http://www.ocpnet.org

I am trying to find military families that would be interested in receiving expired coupons. I know that these families can use the coupons 6 months outside of the expiration date, but I do not know of any families that can use them. I would rather send them to individuals than to a military group so I can send what each family needs. Please email me if you can help.

I would like to repost something that has been on ThriftyFun in the past. Sending expired coupons to our troops. This is the link to a great site that explains all about how, what and where to send.

Please take the time to do this for the men and women who have sacrificed so much that we may all live free.

Are you sure they use expired coupons? I gave the web site a brief scan and didn't find the expiration date mentioned. (11/24/2006)

Under "How do I participate" you will find:

"The cheapest way to send your coupons is via "Parcel Post." Since this method takes much longer to travel to its destination, please make sure that you send coupons that are no more than two months expired on the date of shipping if you use Parcel Post."

I think they can use them up to 6 months after the expiration date. I know it is time consuming to clip all those coupons; I must confess I've been putting it off. Thanks for the reminder. (11/24/2006)

I'm sure they will. In fact, even if they haven't expired when you send them, many will probably be expired by the time they get there. I am clipping all the coupons I run across. (11/27/2006)

The response to ocpnet has been tremendous. In fact, overwhelming. Please do not send large amounts of coupons to Vicenza, Italy. We receive far more than could be used by many small cities (over 200,000 per month)! Thank you to all who have contributed for your willingness and hard work. Our community does appreciate it. I have been trying to get a response from OCP. I have filled in adoption request form and have hundreds of clipped coupons ready to go. Does anyone know other organizations I can contact? I really do want to help and sure don't want to see these coupons go to waste. Thanks for your ideas. (01/16/2010)

I read in a Woman's World magazine that this site will find a military base that will distribute coupons I do not use or need. I would like to know how to go about this. I work in an adult training facility for the mentally retarded and we would like to take this on as a project. Please give me information. We are located in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Thanks for any help you can give me. Tina Pahula
