Shih Tzu Puppy Not Eating Much?

My Shih Tzu puppy is about 14 weeks old. He used to eat all his food the minute I poured it in the bowl. The past couple of days he's stopped doing that. He will pick at it occasionally, but it seems like such a sudden decrease in appetite. Is this common? Did he have a growth spurt that just ended or something? Should I be worried?

Puppies should be eating and drinking. If your puppy stops drinking, it is serious. I would call the vet if the appetite doesnt pick up in a couple of days.

My dog had that problem. Two things solved it. First, as strange as it may sound, spit on his food. Dogs are pack animals. In the wild they dont eat until the alpha has had their fill. This is ingrained in them...my vet saidbto try that and it worked.

Then he would eat but not out of a bowl. It was because he did not want his face to get dirty. So now its food on a plate with my spit. Yum.

If you puppy has not completed his vaccinations, you should be looking out for Parvo virus. It often starts with loss of appetite and proceeds to lethargy and diarrhea and vomiting. To have a chance of beating the virus your puppy will need veterinary care immediately if you see these symptoms. Sadly parvo can be fatal. Good veterinary care, combined with good home care give you your best chance. As I said, if your puppy had his vaccinations this should not be a worry for you.

My puppy finish all of the vaccines. Even the deworm shots. Unfortunately, according to my doctor, my puppy is Highly positive for Canine parvo virus and canine corona virus.

How can this be possible and how can we cure this. Please help, thanks.

At just 14 weeks old he should be eating as soon as you put the food down, I would be a little worried and defiantly take him to a vet to check out what the problem is.
