Singer Steam Press Won't Open?

I have a 2 year old Singer Steam Press ESP-2. It will not open up. I press it down, heard a snap and now it will not budge.

The release button has broken on the inside of the machine. The latch has cracked and now a piece of plastic is in the place where it opens. In order to fix this the machine needs to be taken apart and the broken piece replaced.

Thank you! Very helpful. Now I need to decide if it is worth locating a repair place to fix or should I just replace. A new one costs 201 dollars.

Cost benefit analysis: Time to find a repair place (1 hour = 20 dollars) plus time to and from place (1 hour = 20 dollars ) plus bench charge (50 dollars) plus labor ( 1 hour = 80 dollars) plus cost of part, (10 dollars) plus aggravation factor (20 dollars) = 200 dollars.
This is my third press. The first lasted 4 years. This one is 2 years old. The warranty is 1 year. I use it daily and love it.
Outcome: Probably not worth it to repair so I will order a new one, but goes against my overall preference to get things repaired rather than throw away. I will order a new one since I need and spread out the repair tasks on the old one to reduce aggravation factor re: tasks to repairs.

The same thing happened to me after three years, we took it apart and it shows that the bearing is broken where the handle release is to open and close the top. Sanger does not sell parts for this.
