Taking a photo of an old silver picture frame with a smartphone. We all use our cell phones to text and call, access the internet, take photos, and keep track of appointments. But did you know that camera can be valuable for more than preserving photos?

I'm always losing receipts that I need to keep, so now I still keep the originals, but take photos of the receipts and keep in a folder on my phone or desktop.

Here are some other ideas:

  • Instead of making a grocery list, snap a photo of your pantry or inside the fridge.

  • Keep a photo of your medicine bottles to carry to the doctor.

  • Take photos or a video of the inside of your home instead of making a list. This is proof of your belongings in case of a fire.

  • Take a photo of old snapshots that are wearing out and can't be reprinted.

  • How about a photo of the razor you use when you need to buy refills?

  • If you're taking something apart, take a picture of it before you start so you'll know how to put it back together!

  • See a pair of shoes or a dress you like, but that aren't in your size? Take a photo of it and find it on line.

  • Need to text involved instructions from a document? Snap a picture and text that so you don't have to type it out.
That cell phone has lots more uses than we've ever dreamed of!

When a smartphone is connected to a car, you are basically sharing your personal information. It is best to not connect your smartphone to a car that is not yours, especially a rental.
