Spots on Marble

I bought a new bathroom vanity with a marble countertop and it's getting water marks on it. Does anyone know how to clean it?

We used to clean our living room marble tabletops with toothpaste. I think it was like a baking soda toothpaste. Been many years ago.

Most of the marble used in bathrooms is cultured marble (manmade). Hairspray will discolor marble. Also they make a product called Gel Gloss that our installer said should be used once a year. He gave us a can but I think that I have seen it at Lowes.
