This trendy and modern succulent art piece can be hung up (saves space) or displayed as a centerpiece on a table, coffee stand, end table, or desk.
This is a fun do it yourself succulent art piece and I really enjoyed the outcome. It is much more affordable than purchasing an already made one and is perfect to give as a gift too!

Supplies:
- Stain
- coffee grounds
- steel wool 0000
- distilled white vinegar
- Planter
- wire shadow box
- wire nails
- black plastic sheeting
- wood stapler
- wood
- paint brush
- soil
- assorted succulents
Steps:
- For the do it yourself stain, I got the inspiration from DIY Pete (linked above). Add your coffee grounds to an empty glass jar and break them up.
- Insert a pad of the 0000 steel wool and top off with distilled white vinegar until you reach about 3/4 of the jar. Allow the vinegar to react and dissolve the wool for about 2-3 days. Do not close the lid of the jar but set aside in your garage or outside.
- After 2-3 days once the wool is dissolved, stir the solution and filter the liquid and discard the bits.
- I used a ArtMinds wire shadow box that I purchased from Michael's. I used a 50% off coupon so it was about $6-7 if I recall correctly.
- Find any scrap thin wood you may have laying around and cut to the shape of the shadow box as backing. This will be used to close this shadow box up. You will want to use Weather-All plastic sheeting and cover the square thin wood. Attach with wood staples.
- With the stain, using a brush, apply a few coats to reach your desired color. Allow to dry.
- Once dried, I went along the edges of the wire shadow box with the plastic sheeting and stapled in place.
- Using wire nails, hammer the thin wood (cut to size earlier) to the shadow box to close up the wire shadow box
- Add soil and start adding your succulents. Repeat until you have your succulent art completed.
