A decorative paper flower in a recycled toilet paper tube planter.Here is a fun craft for the kids! Turn empty toilet rolls into flower pots. Cut flowers from cardstock and use them to fill the pots. It's a great activity to celebrate summer! Each toilet roll will make two pots, so why not fill the whole window sill with colorful flowers?

Total Time: 15 minutes per flower pot

Yield: 2 flower pots

Supplies:

Toilet Roll Flower-in-a-Pot Kids Craft - template for the flower, leaves, and flower center
 

Steps:

  1. The following should be done by an adult: Use the sharp knife to cut the toilet roll in half. Each half will be a flower pot.

  3. Paint the inside and outside of the toilet roll pots with the kenton brown chalk paint and allow to dry thoroughly.

  5. Use the green felt-tip pen to color the kebab stick.
  6. An adult will need to assist with this step: Cut two pieces from the colored kebab stick - each piece should be 3.4" long. Tip: If necessary, use the kitchen knife to cut the pieces.
  7. Glue a piece of kebab stick to the inside of each toilet roll pot. The kebab stick pieces will be the stems of the flowers.
  8. Toilet Roll Flower-in-a-Pot Kids Craft - glue the kebab stick to the inside of the TP tube
     
  9. Trace two flowers on to the light pink shimmer cardstock and cut them out. Glue a flower to the top of each flower stem.
  10. Toilet Roll Flower-in-a-Pot Kids Craft - cut out 2 flowers and glue one on each stick
     
  11. Trace and cut two circles from the cerise pink cardstock and glue a circle to the centre of each flower.
  12. Toilet Roll Flower-in-a-Pot Kids Craft - trace and cut out 2 circles for the flower centers, glue in place

  13. Trace and cut four leaves from the green sugar paper. Use the black pen to add veins to the leaves, and then glue two leaves to each flower pot.
  14. Toilet Roll Flower-in-a-Pot Kids Craft - trace and cut out 4 leaves, add detail with pen and glue 2 to each flower pot
     
  15. Use the blue metal pen to add dots to the cerise pink centre of each flower.
