As soon as the power is turned on, the "y" key repeats rapidly and continuously. The other keys work normally, but they won't stop. Why? This is not a joke.

I have the opposite problem. My E and sometimes A key get stuck and just do not perform. You seem to have a key stuck on the 'on' position and mine don't want to perform
when I have googled it, they tell me it's a short circuit on the keyboard as worst case scenario, which means the electric wires are frayed or nonfunctioning (like when headphones go bad). Best case scenario there's some gunk there that I can get rid of with a can of canned air
i suspect you have a similar problem - some short circuit, or something stuck there pushing the key down all the time
