Upper Thread Gets Caught When Pulling Up Bobbin Thread?

I have a Kenmore sewing machine and I put in a new bobbin, but when I tried to bring up the bobbin thread the top thread catches on the stopper in the hook race. I am not sure what happened it never has before.
