There is no evidence that garlic repels fleas.
Garlic and other alliums DO repel biting, blood sucking insects.
I know different vets say different things, but mine says garlic can be poisonous to dogs!! So her answer is NEVER use garlic on dogs or in their food. Your vet may something different so ask. I trust my vet implicitly, so going by her direction...DO NOT USE IT!
Home remedies for fleas never work...I am nervous about the chemical treatments also...so it is a tough one. After much research and prayers, I have had to find the least dangerous method for my current boy--which is Sentinel tabs for fleas and a Sorresto Collar for ticks.
Hopefully these will not turn out the be harmful or recalled or such...so many of the topical products are very dangerous, but so are fleas and ticks.
Bottom line--talk to your vet! Prayers for your pup!!
I have never heard of garlic repelling fleas. I would not risk it. At best you will have a very smelly dog.
