Value of a 1966 Singer Sewing Machine?

I would like to know the value of a 1966 knee controlled Singer sewing machine. It is still in the sewing cabinet.

These are not valuable. The fact that it is in a cabinet makes it worth more. Check on eBay at regular intervals for a few weeks to see what they are selling for.

ANYTHING OVER 100 YEARS OLD IS ANTIQUE.

Without a model or a picture it is hard to give you the exact value. Also, there are lots of things that could go with these and sometimes complete sets (like machine, all original attachments, book, case, cabinet, etc.) fetches more than if you just have the machine and cabinet if you sell it all as a package.

Right now there are some 1966 machines UNSOLD on eBay, but that just tells me these particular models and situations were not sold...if yours matches any of these exactly, then you would know how much is too much to try to sell for, but not the value.

Value in today's world is actual selling price.

Many folks like the machines for parts and the cases to do Flea Market Flip projects with them...converting them into tables and vanities and bars and such. People also like to replace broken attachments and lost manuals.

If you are trying to sell, I suggest watching the machines and cabinets separately on eBay and other auction site to decide if you want to sell them together or apart. Also if you have parts to them (like attachments and books) check those values separately also...as there are still people who collect those items and don't want the machine or cabinet.

I love old sewing machines...and used to think the knee pedals were so cool. I had one for years and sadly it died. This was long before eBay...now if I still had it, I could sell it for parts! Who knew!

The value of an older sewing machine is not always based on the year it was made as some of them are not worth very much.

  • There were many times several models made each year so you would need to search by the model number as well as the serial number as many people do not know the year so they do not list or try to sell by year. You will find machines listed under brand, model number, serial number or sometimes just under antique or vintage "Singer".

  • If you do not know the model number you can check out some of the images on Google to see if you can locate a same or similar machine. You can click on some of the images to see if they are listed for sale on eBay or other sites. This may give you an idea as to what is being listed but not the actual "sold" value.

  • The value will also depend on the working condition as well as the overall appearance condition. Perhaps one of the most important factors in finding a value is where the machine is located (area). These machines are very heavy and almost impossible to ship safely so if these are selling in your area then yours may be worth more money also.

  • A good place to check for listings is on your local Craigslist, USA4Sale as well as any other sites in your area. If you find any, even similar, that have sold then you can check out what someone is willing to pay.
  • eBay or Etsy are not easy places to learn how to list a large item so be very careful if you go this route. Most sellers list these as "pick up only" which is what I have just described as being listed in your area.
  • Here is a site that has almost all models of Singers listed - with pictures - so you may be able to find your model on this site.
