Value of a Brandt Drop Leaf Dining Table?

Value of a Brandt Drop Leaf Dining TableThis Brandt was my grandmother's table. It is 36" long by 26" wide. Each leaf adds an additional 13". You can drop one leaf, keep the other extended, or drop or extend both. It is in mint condition except for a burn happened years ago. It is very sturdy and the hardware is in exceptional shape. I want to sell my table because I have no room for it. Could you give me an idea of how much she would be worth being she has the burn?

Aww! That is so sad about the burn. This appears to be the breakfast table size. It is popular in some big cities that have apartment living and less popular where people want dining size tables.

In this condition in a big city where these are in high demand, I would start at $300 and take best offer which may be as low as $30 because of the damage.

In a small town with low demand, I would start at $100 and take $30.

You can always have a resale shop consign it for you! I always suggest this because furniture is so hard for individuals to sell.

On Ebay they have one that they are asking $599 - there is another site that has a similar table for much more - www.chairish.com/.../vintage-brandt-solid-cherry-double... - This one they are asking much more!

The price quoted to you earlier is for a drop leaf coffee table and not a dining table. Consider you have damage to the top of the table this will take down the price you receive considerably. Since the item is large and will not sell too quickly I would contact a vintage furniture sales company in your area and see if they would be interested in listing this item for you.

Most larger table like this should bring in $300 to $500. However, this also depends on where you live and if people are buying furniture like this in your area. In some areas the most you can get for this table is around $150. List this with a vintage furniture store and seek advice on how you should repair the top of the table to not sell it with this damage.

As a fucntinal piece of furniture you should be able to expect as much as $80 for this piece. You should not take much less.

You can fix the burn yourself if you sand it away, put wood putty, and then varnish on top of that.

This would not be OK if you were trying to sell it as an antique, but since that's probably not profitable, might as well fix the burn and get more $ out of it as a functional piece
