Vintage Vase Lamp?

A vase with a lamp on the top.Any info on this vintage lamp would be useful. It sits on a carved wooden base. I believe it was a vase converted into a lamp.

You have a Moriage lamp, I think from Japan.
Moriage refers to a raised decoration used in Japanese pottery. The raised decoration is formed by applying lines of slip on to the pottery surface.
"Moriage is a common name on slip or colored clay string decoration, mostly on Japanese porcelain, in look not unlike 'cake frosting' in which a diluted clay has been used to give the piece a three dimensional appearance. A painstaking technique involved building up areas of enamel to produce a three-dimensional effect. At the end of the 20th century this technique was developed by the Chinese porcelain industry into "Satsuma" looking porcelain, where bright enamels on a porcelain base was combined with raised gilded slip enamels." gotheborg.com/.../moriage.shtml

Perhaps you have a Chinese hexagonal porcelain vase table lamp. I think the vase was mounted on a base, and as a ready to use table lamp.
This one sold for $10

You need to look on the bottom for identifying markings. I think its not too expensive, because converting an expensive vase into a lamp would decrease the value.

You do not provide a reason for wanting to know about this lamp but if it is for value (selling value) it would be difficult to provide that information as any 'sold' similar lamp could not be used.
This type of item could almost be considered 'one-of-a-kind' and should not be compared with 'similar' lamps.
If value is what you're after, I would suggest you look at similar lamps on Google so you can get a 'ballpark' starting price.

If listing for sale, start with a higher price, consider best offers and leave it posted for several weeks. If you do not receive any offers, lower the price and wait again.

You may want to take your vase/lamp to some of the local Asian/Oriental stores or restaurants and ask for help with identifying the design.
