Washing Flip Flops

I love shoes. Especially comfortable flip flops. I am always watching other people's feet to see what kind of shoes they have. But I am often appalled when I see someone with cute shoes that are so nasty. Living in Florida I have lots of flip flops and sandals. If I wear a pair of shoes that match a particular outfit I will wash them that night. If it is an every day or neutral pair of shoes, then I will wash them every couple of days or when they feel dirty. I keep a small scrub brush right on the shelf by the washer. I put a little of the laundry soap on the flip flop and use the brush to scrub clean. And just throw them in the washer. When done I put them on top of the dryer to dry and they are usually dry by the time the clothes are dry. (In a pinch I have washed them in the shower if I needed them by morning. I love fresh clean shoes! I have even washed some dress shoes. But never put any of them in the dryer.

Just don't do what some have done lately and run them through a dish washer cycle. They are also adding hair brushes. Your solution sounds great!!

I have a nice pair of white flip flop type sandals. The cloth bottom where the foot goes did get rather nasty looking. I searched the net and found to use upholstery cleaner on them. It works awesome! Now, I have like new nice white shoes.
