Wired in Smoke Alarm?

My wired in smoke alarm does not beep when I press it to test it. There is a green light on it that I can see when it is dark. Does this mean it is working OK?

Typically a green light means power to the device, but that said, I strongly recommend looking up the brand and calling the company that made it to get their feedback.

I would hate to see you have an emergency and not have the device work.

The name should be visible somewhere on the device. If you can't see it...you may want to call the person that wired them in and ask what they used.

When you call the company, be sure to ask if there was a recall on the device as that will change things.

Consumer reports just had an article about smoke detectors in May.

These do not last forever. It may be time to replace it.
