Write Greeting Cards for Nursing Home Patients

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 355 Posts

Cheerful greeting cards in a pile.Just like everyone, I am particularly dealing with this Pandemic due being quarantinedover a week ago due to my several medical issues. I decided to try my best to distract myself from the news, it was just getting me down. So I got out all my old cards and started writing friendly messages to people who are in nursing homes and now have been restricted from all visitors!

Instead of sending them singular, I am sending them in batches to the nursing homes directly. Yes, it will cost me stamps, and I have someone going to the Dollar Store tomorrow and getting more cards. They are 2 for $1.00. I have wasted more money on frivolous things before and not worried about it! This is not frivolous! These are very lonely people. If I can put a smile on a face it is worth the stamp and card. I have also made this suggestion to all my grandchildren too! I have other ideas I will post!

The writing in a greeting card.

My Nursing Home Residents Greeting Cards Effort:

1. Choose a nursing home to help.

2. Call their Activities Director to check if there is a need for cards.

3. Decide how many cards you can make (how much time you can devote to making cards.)

4. Takes usually 2 weeks to complete the cards. Or buy affordable cards. I sometimes make one original note card and print copies of it on my home printer.

5. Put the cards and envelopes in a gift bag of appropriate size and tape the bag shut.

6. Place the bag in a place where it is dry/cool with little walk through foot traffic, like the back of little used closet for 2 weeks.

7. Buy medical gloves or ask a local hospital or doctors office to donate gloves from their inventory of expired closed boxes.

8. Keep track of expenses. This a charitable activity.

9. At the nursing home, put on your medical gloves, take your greeting cards in the shopping bag, walk to the nursing home's main entrance, ring the buzzer with your elbow. When a staff member comes to the door, say what you want (delivering resident's greeting cards to the Activities Director).

So fulfilling what feedback you will receive... I make 18 cards each month, creating a new design or using a design from my art work. For Christmas I will buy the Christmas cards or Holiday Cards like Valentines Day.
