Repairing Bleach Stains on Carpet

I was trying to clean up my cat's urine marks on the carpet. I unfortunately used Clorox cleaner, the kind you use to clean the kitchen and bathroom. I've used this in the past on my beige couches to get rid of stains. I thought since it didn't stain my couches that it would be okay on my beige carpet.

Unfortunately I was wrong. While I was cleaning it was fine, it looked like that it did the trick. I came back to the room the next day and saw that the carpet had changed color in those areas. Does anyone know how to fix it? I'm debating on getting a carpet cleaner or some Resolve on it. But I thought before I put anymore chemicals on it or spend any more money, I've come to ask for help.

First thing you want to do is grab your cornstarch, sprinkle over the clorax and water area to stop the spreading. Unfortunately, bleach, especially combined with water spreads like wildfire. Leave the cornstarch on the area for at least 30 minutes..if you don't have cornstarch, you can use rice or even some carpet deodorizer powder.

Next, vacuum up the area when it is completely dry. Now you can do one of two things, but some rit and play colorist on a paper plate like an artist and dab and and tap with a paintbrush until it looks like a match or for beige and light brown carpet,if you have coffee on hand, you can make one very strong cup, and some old english wood repair oil whatever colors is most like your carpet, mix and dab it in to the carpet until the color is achieved. If you use the coffee method, you will most likely have to apply at least twice. Both of these methods work, and can repair your carpet back to almost the same. One tip/trick I used is to follow the pattern or path of the carpet, on to the good area to blend it in this way it all looks normal. Don't leave any circle or rub pattern where you cleaned the stain. Good luck!

Accidental spills or intentional use of a cleaner containing bleach can leave an ugly bleached spot on your carpet. Short of replacing the carpet, homeowners have tried a variety of products to minimize the damage.
