My 16th birthday is coming up in early December (it's summer where I live). I want to have a big party like you see in the movies, but I know my mum won't approve and I won't have enough people to invite.

Any ideas on what to do with around 15 girls (no guys cause I don't have any guy friends)? Thanks.

16th Birthday Ideas:

  1. You are saying it will be summer where you live. This can make it a lot of fun to plan a birthday party.
  2. During the summer months you can have a pool party. But make it an elegant one. Use table cloths and decorate the tables. Set up a buffet to serve your favorite foods. Make people feel like they are attending a rich pool party for celebrities.
  3. Make your backyard into an outdoor spa. Set it up for your friends to do facials, paint nails and do hair.
  4. You could have a fun party at the beach and play volleyball or other sports games.
  5. Since your birthday is in December make a holiday ball in your living room. Have each girl dress up for a fancy dance and play music and dance the night away.

  7. You can still have your big party, but on a small scale. Take some of the ideas they have in movies that you love and apply them to your birthday theme. Create your own Hollywood birthday party.

You don't need a lot of people to attend your party to have a great time.

You can have a movie night and slumber party at your house. As far as decorations, you still have time and can check Pinterest. Right now the trendy ones are backdrops where you take photos (like the floral ones) that'll be fun to do a Photo Booth because selfies are in right now!

You can do each others hair, nails while watching a movie.

My 16th birthday is coming up next year on the 14th of February and I'm stuck on what to do! I can't have a party at home because I live in a small flat and I can't have a party outside as I only have a little garden.

I live in Newcastle and there's not a lot to do in the winter. I would roughly like to invite 12 friends. Any ideas guys?

My 16th birthday will be at the end of August. My parents are not against me having a larger sized party, but they would like it to be affordable. I am wanting the theme to be elegant and mature, but not cheesy. I plan on inviting both boys and girls and as stated previously, it will be a larger party. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

If you have a house you could turn that into a fancy place with some cheap decorations. You could also have a fancy invite and have everyone dress up fancy.

I'm having a 16th birthday party, and I have about 35-40 people I want to invite. It can't be too expensive, less that $500/$400, but I want it to be really fun while classy at the same time, you know? I know a lot of people have themes, but I'm not really too into that.

I was thinking of maybe renting out a banquet hall and to just have food and dancing, but that might be too much and I can't seem to think of anything else. Any ideas? Please help! :)

While I can't fathom the idea of spending that much money on a party, I can see wanting to have all of your friends. I suggest a backyard B.B.Q. You can jazz things up nicely with home-made or store bought Tiki torches or those decorative light strings, light some citronella candles, some music (played at a moderate level so as not to incur the wrath of your neighbors or involve the police).

You could (and probably should) buy paper plates, etc... to make the clean-up easy on your folks. There is a lot of stuff on the web about party games, etc...

As far as food goes, I'd grill up a lot of hamburgers and set up a condiment bar, complete with different cheeses, pickles, buns, maybe even fried bacon strips and those lovely, greasy French-fried onions. I'd probably offer some cold sides that could be made ahead (think coleslaw, broccoli salad, potato salad, a sweet salad like fruit salad or something with jello and fruit), and several different kinds of chips.

Borrow several coolers and set-up drink stations around the yard. Make sure you offer bottled water for the friends who don't care for corn-syrup based refreshments or are health conscious.

Do you know someone who is good with decorating cakes? You can buy a large-enough cake pan for these kind of parties at Wally world, and then you will have the pan for future use. You can find out how many cake mixes to use with a quick web-search. Or just bake 2 or 3 different flavors in 9x13 pans, and make several cakes so there is a choice, and have just the one special birthday cake decorated up, leaving the others with plain frosting of your choice.

For Ice cream, I suggest buying half gallon cartons (not buckets). The reason for this is ease of serving. You peel off the entire top and sides of the container, leaving you with a "brick" of ice cream. You cut it in half lengthwise, then slice it, and you have nice equal "slices" of ice cream served up before it all melts.

You could ask a couple of your friends to be cake and ice cream servers, and maybe a couple to help with clean-up after the party. You all are mature and responsible enough now to pitch in and help Mom and Dad a little, right?

This kind of party can be very cool... actually it's really all about attitude. Maybe you could enlist your very best friends to help you plan the deal and shop for it.That in itself could be a lot of fun!

I'm turning 16 in March and have no idea what to do. I have considered a bon fire or maybe going to a indoor pool, but I'm so lost. I will have about 10 other friends there at the most. I would like it to be somewhat cheap for my parent's budget.

I want it to be super fun and something I will never forget. Any ideas or suggestions? I would like to do something outside, but with the weather, I'm not sure.

I personally think that it is the friends you spend the event with rather than the "stuff" you do that makes the time special. The simplest things can be the best fun. Both of your ideas sound like fun. Perhaps you could do both. I always think that spending time around a campfire, talking, roasting hotdogs, making s'mores, etc. is a wonderful time. Perhaps one of your friends knows how to play a guitar and you can have a sing-a-long. That is always fun.

My 16th birthday is coming up. My party has to be cheap and at my house in winter. I don't know what I should do for my party. I don't even know how many people I am inviting. I'm a tomgirl so it can't be very girly. Please help me with some ideas.

You could do a bonfire in your backyard! For my sweet sixteen my parents rented out 3 fire pits (which are inexpensive) and my guests could be either in my basement or outside in the winter without getting cold. Everyone loved it! There was no theme we all just hung out and had fun! A plus we got to wear whatever so that made it easy for everyone (and made the guys especially happy that they didn't have to dress up). And since I was on a budget we ordered pizza and got a variety of deserts and chips from Walmart.

As for a cake we made it ourself because it's more fun and really inexpensive! We put on the radio for music and the most expensive thing we got was a photobooth which was around $150 but definitely worth it! Not that many people have a party like this, they're usually upscale so a lot of people enjoyed it and thought it was "very unique".

I'm turning 16 soon and my parents don't exactly have a lot of money to spend for my birthday because my little brother's birthday is a week after mine. What should I do that is inexpensive and yet something fun I can actually get to enjoy and remember?

Thanks for reading this! I appreciate any advice you can offer. I am not girly and not outgoing (so there won't be very many people at my party (10 at the most) and they will be all girls).

I am looking for any party ideas that are free or really cheap :) I'm not paying for it, but my parents don't have much money and so I don't want them to have to spend lots of money on a birthday party.

I don't want to have a slumber party, and I can't do anything on the weekends because of work. I know that it is really easy for people to get bored at parties if there isn't something going on at all times, and I'd hate for that to be my party.

Does anyone have any ideas? Basically: cheap, fun, and simple? Thanks!

Why not have a birthday party at your local McDonald's or Burger King? They will do it for any age, you'll get party goodies, an attendant will wait on you, and it doesn't cost much. You can check online for party games. I think your friends will have a ball!

You could always get some balloons (either fill with helium or just use air) but before you blow them up, roll up a truth or dare card in it. It's really fun and people have to pop the balloon to get to the card.

It's been a while since I last posted a question, and a lot has changed. I've moved schools, and made amazing new friends. I'm turning 16 in exactly 29 days, and I have the basic idea of what my party will be, "friends" themed!

It's going to be 90s - early 2000's for the dress code and I'm super excited! The only problem is I'm stuck on what to do. I've been searching online for decorations and food choices, and I just can't find something that sticks. If you guys have any ideas please let me know.

Thanks
