Ok, here's a fun one and it'll get everyone interacting with each other. Get notecards and put the names of famous people (or infamous, the funnier the better) on them. When each guest arrives, you pin one to their back, and they have to circulate the room asking everyone questions about who they "are", but only questions that can be answered by YES or NO. Use names like AnnaNicole Smith, Oprah, barbara Walters, etc, names that the age group would be somewhat familiar with. You don't want them too easy, but not too difficult either. It really is alot of fun, and gets strangers talking and laughing with each other.

This morning I heard of someone who turned 50 and is celebrating by going to 50 places she has never been. I think this is a great idea! I can not afford to travel as she is.

My husband did 40 miles for his 40th birthday. Does anyone have any ideas similar to these? I don't want to have the "typical" birthday party.

How about visit 50 places in your area that are free to visit...like a park, or store, or tourist attraction?

Or, there are neat random act of kindness card ideas on Pinterest. Make up 50 and give them out to honor your special day.

Or, plant 50 flowers...start the seeds inside and then in the spring you can enjoy your birthday again!

Blessings for your special day!!!!

Many people forget what is right there around them that they have always wanted to go and see but never did. Why not sit down and make a list of 50 things you want to do in a 50-mile radius of where you live and go and do them.

These could be as simple as going to a snack shop to try a new ice cream or something that you saw when you were out and always wanted to go back and try or see.

I know what I wanted to do at a milestone birthday (30...40...50... 60...) was to find that number of other people also having a birthday on that same day

It would have required a year of forethought, going on Craigslist, Facebook etc and asking "anybody else turning 50 on March 31st (for instance)? Let's have a huge party!"

then plan the party

imagine how marvelous to have 50 people who you barely know turning 50 alongside you!

anyway I always wanted to do that but never got around to it

I would like suggestions on things to surprise this person. Any suggestions to help make her day worth remembering? And any ways to be just a little mean. Funny sayings also would help.

Thanks.

Here's another cool idea I pop in when people ask what to get people...give them a fake newspaper.

This link is just one of many when you google "fake newspapers".

It's nice to make up cool stories about how someone saved the day or how much better the world is with them in it...things like that. If the recipient loves to frame things, buy two, then they will have that option on both sides.

I think this is so very special and unusual that it will be the hit of the event!

I know of a lady who I only know on Facebook and would like to surprise her with a unique 50th birthday party. Her favorite color is black she suffers, like me, from fibromyalgia and spinal illness which causes chronic pain due to this illness. Many family and friends often don't understand so they tend not to extend invites to social gatherings, because weather plays a bad roll on how we suffer.

However her birthday is in August and summer is a great time because the warm weather helps our body pain. I know she wants a horse and carriage ride, wants to let go of 50 balloons, and she loves the color black. She is a lovely soul and cares for anyone. She loves life and has a great sense of humor. I need help! Please.

all the things you say sound good, balloons are not too expensive, though a carriage ride might be.

though maybe just a Skype or live chat would be more appropriate considering her illness, sort of a fun virtual party

My husband is turning 50 on December 17. I don't have much money but I would like to do something special for him. We don't have many friends to invite to the party, but I would still like to make that day special for him. Any ideas?

I think it's great you want to have a special celebration for him. For my own personal feelings, I really don't like the "over the hill" and "old as dirt" decorations. We all feel too old as it is!

Will it be cold where you are? If you don't want to prepare a whole meal, why not invite friends over later that day for cold weather refreshments like egg nog, hot cocoa, smores, sausage balls and of course cake and ice cream.

I am planning my husband's 50th birthday party in February, but I'm having a hard time coming up with an original idea. He is a chef by profession. I would greatly appreciate ideas for centerpieces and other decorations. Thanks in advance.
