I would cut out the top of the bottle altogether and discard it. THen I would cut it down the middle and cut around the base so that the base remains intact. Then you can cut away a lot of the extra and just leave a strip to attach to the surface of the table and where your urn rests. The drips will then go into the base of the bottle.
