A wet tea bag on top of a folded paper towel was placed on top of my oak coffee table for approximately 1 1/2 hours which resulted in a large stain. It looks like the area was lightened and I have not been able to return it to the original surrounding stain color.

I tried the hot iron and cotton towel which did not work. Any suggestions?

Try scraping the surface gently to remove the tea stain. Go over that with a wood crayon that matches the rest of the table. Then apply a few drops of polyurethane with a toothpick

A friend brought a pizza over and sat it on our sideboard without a trivet underneath. It left a white, round ring where the moist heat from the pizza sat.

How do we get rid of that whitish ring?

Either of these two methods may solve your problem. You can prepare a paste using baking soda and water and gently rub the white circle until the discoloration disappears. Non-gel toothpaste can be used in the same way to remove the white ring.

If neither of these methods are successful you can make a paste using non-gel toothpaste and baking soda to rub on the circle until it vanishes.

I ironed a shirt on a solid wood table. I did put a towel underneath, but somehow it stained the table. Is there anything I can use to make it better, it looks quite ill at the moment.

It's an area of about 2ft x 2ft.

I have heard that putting mayonnaise on and leaving a half hour before wiping off works well.

Try mayonnaise. Seriously - it takes water rings off very expensive furniture. It can't possibly hurt it.

If you can put the table out in the sun, try rubbing it with a suitably colored furniture polish then setting it out in the sun for a while. I've gotten water marks out of maple chairs that way.

A friend of mine set a hot pan on her dining room table and it made a horrible dark brown burn circle in the table. Is there any way we can work on making it look nice w/o refinishing the table?

It would be useful to know what the stain is. Many white stains are caused by water or heat. These can be fixed, although I have not done so. Try googling removing water stains from cherry wood, and see if you get info.

If the stain is something else (paint, for example), the method of removal will be different
