l was wondering if any one could help me. Is this dresser vintage or antique? What year? Has it a name? And its value ?
Thanks.
This is a beautiful piece, but I would need a lot more info to help you figure out what it is.
Antique means over 100 years old and gut feeling says it is more of a late 1930s or early 1940s piece if it is an original and not a reproduction. I am basing that only on what I can see which are the handles and the little casters.
Are the drawers dovetail or nailed, glued, screwed together? That would help date it.
Is the mirror beveled or smooth?
As for what it is...There is almost a custom or hand made look to this with the unusual design around the mirror. This has me so curious.
I am not convinced it is a dresser. It feels (to me) more like a sideboard. Dressers usually go to the floor to maximize storage. This does not.
You may be best served taking it to an antique dealer and getting his/her guidance on what it is and the value of it where you are.
Please post back with more info and if you do talk to a pro first, what he/she says.
Thanks for sharing it!! It is stunning!
Any idea how much this dresser is worth? There is a spot where the tag used to be, but no other markings. The drawers are dovetail construction, if that helps.
This gorgeous! Waterfall style art deco dresser from what I can see. Value depends on where you are located. The can sell from as low as $25 to $2500 depending on the supply and demand in your community.
This was pre-virus. Now is not the time to try to sell pieces for safety and financial reasons.
When the economy returns check with a reputable antique dealer in your town to see what the new world value will be.
Also have them verify it is a true vintage or antique. It looks to be, bt there are many repro pieces out there made to look out. That will play into value also.
Post back with an update! Thanks for sharing this with me! It is lovely!!
Without a lot more to go on it is difficult to search for this dresser online. The value of your item is determined by the area you live and the price another person has sold a similar item for. I would wait around 6 months or a bit longer until the economy has stabilized before gong to an vinatage or antique dealer in your area.
Very unusual but seems a little 'bulky' for the art deco styles to me but since I know very little about furniture styles I could be all wrong.
Pghgirl did mention 'Waterfall' but I had some waterfall style pieces a while back and my research seemed to be the waterfall claim to fame was all about 'rounded/curved' ends and this one seems(?) to have a straight edge top.
You may be able to get some information if you present your information to one of the free appraisers as they would know all about this style even if there is no brand name. They will not always give a lot of information if the item is not worth at least $500 but I think they may help you.
You can ask for help at more than one to see the difference in information. Hopefully you will find what you're looking for and post back to share information with us.

Does anyone have knowledge of this table like year or price range? I can't find it online.
I am not finding the exact piece of furniture you have listed here. I do see a few that are similar and one of them was refinished. They were asking $395 for this one. The other ones asking price was $450 to $500 for the item.
This dresser is in pristine condition. I am wondering who the manufacturer is, what wood it is, and what price to sell it at. It is very functional and looks great. I'm looking through my photographs to see if that information was taken. The dresser is part of my father's estate, I was planning to put it on Craigslist for $500 and see what happened.
Some think that is way too low and others too high. It is a beautiful piece, in great condition and I thought it was a good place to start.Look in the drawers for an identifying marking. In my area, brown furniture does not sell at all.I think your price is too high, at least where I live.
You have my condolences on the loss of your dad. May his memory always be a blessing.
The dresser is lovely and has some features that lead me to believe it may be valuable in the right setting. The mirror, onion feet, and detail work on the front (is it inlay?), also what look like the brass handles, those are the signs of an older quality piece.
The maker may be difficult to figure out if there are no markings on the back, or the underside or the underside of a drawer, or back wall of drawer well. Some furniture just isn't marked. Also, if there is a chance it was handmade, it wouldn't be marked.
This is why if you try to find comparables it is so hard. Do you know the year of it? Sometimes that is the only thing resellers can figure out. Sometimes it is a span of years.
Now value is hard because it depends on where you are. A piece this detailed in a city where there is a big demand may fetch well over $500 in an auction or shop. In a small town where everyone has one of these up for grabs, much less.
If you are not an experienced seller, I suggest you take have a professional sell it for you and don't attempt Craig's List (too many scammers and flakes). Plus if it is more valuable, most people will not pay that kind of money to someone off the street--they would much rather purchase through a store front.
The other issue with sell it yourself is that the buyer has to be able to get it out of where it is and that is always a huge challenge. When I tried to sell big pieces on my own, I had people come to buy big items in a small car. Nope, that 8 foot book case will NOT fit into your VW bug. Sorry. What were you thinking!?! Yikes!
I am a experienced reseller, but since I had some challenges (see above) I now defer all of my big furniture pieces to a pro with a store front. It just works best!
Post back what you decide and the value of your piece when they sell it.
Thanks for sharing!
I would have an auction house or an antique store sell this for me. it is a beautiful piece and listing an item like this on Craigslist is a good idea but also a bad one because not so many people will come to look at this item. In an antique store you have a better opportunity to sell the item for what it is worth and more people can see this item.
This dresser has markings on back that say, White Furniture Company, with a lot of numbers listed. Can anyone tell me approximate value if this piece?
Gorgeous mid century modern piece!! There are a bunch of this same dresser out there. I think it is oak. Made in Melbane, NC. Depending on the demand in your town, these dressers sell between 100 and 900 dollars.
Some markets are glutted, so that accounts for the low end some markets have a high supply/low demand, which accounts for the high end.
Start high and negotiate with the best offer.
Great piece! Thanks for sharing.
Your exact dresser is not listed on Charish. I love this site and check it for prices to help people determine the value of their furniture. The site has several dresser listed there and they are averaging around $900 each for sale. I do not see any sold yet but you can check out the site and keep your eyes open if one sells there. This will help you out in determining the value of your dresser. Also your area where you live has a great deal to do with the price of the dresser and if people are looking for this item in your area. In some areas people no longer buy these items and they are sold off very cheap. You should be able to get around $500 to $900 depending on where you live.
I purchased this Dixie piece (dresser) for $6.99 at Savers. I know very little except the company is reputable. If possible I'd like to know the date or era of the piece, including value, and best way to sell. Everything seems to be original which leads me to wonder if I should have it professionally restored to bring up the value or let it alone?
Thank you so much!
Dixie furniture is a low to mid-priced line of furniture. Yours was made in the 1950s to the 1970s.
I don't see the exact dresser you have pictured here but on eBay they are asking $200 to $700 for these dressers. If you do a professional restore on the piece you should be able to sell it for more.
