My model 15 Singer sewing machine SN# AK497758 is continually breaking the thread on the top. What can I do? I've re-threaded and put a new bobbin on.
Make sure there isnt a piece of needle snagging the machine. Also, make sure the thread is not old. Old thread dries out and breaks
Make sure your top thread spool didn't "backlash" and tighten thread around the spool holder. Also, try re-threading the machine from spool, all the way to needle, to make sure thread is running through tension discs correctly.
The upper thread on my LS14 keeps snapping since I bent a needle and replaced it. I've adjusted the tension, I've brushed down the needle holder, etc. I removed the bobbin holder to clean it and realised that a bent pin had been hiding under it. I removed the pin cleaned and put everything back together.
Now my thread keeps snapping and the machine makes a slight clunking noise before it snaps. It seems to struggle with any thickness (I'm talking a very thin seam thickness). I've removed the bobbin holder and replaced it, I've replaced the needle. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! Any suggestions?
When the needle bent, another part may have bent, too. Another possibility is that there is a rough edge on the part that bent. The thread is rubbing against a rough or bent part and frays to the point of snapping.
When trying to sew on my Janome Memory Craft 6000, the cotton thread keeps breaking or gathering underneath. I have changed the cotton, checked the tension, and redone the threading on top and bobbin.
Can you please help me?Check that the bobbin isn't in backwards. It can cause that problem
Old thread or poor quality thread breaks easily. Try a fresh spool.
My bobbin case is chipped. Are there any do-it-yourself fixes for this? Also my top thread keeps breaking.
You can replace those cases fairly cheaply. I found a replacement part (bobbin case) for mine on ebay.
Once it is chipped, you have to replace it. If it is a tiny chip, you could try filing it, but I think it is shot.
My upper thread is breaking when a thick fabric is stitched. The thread is breaking frequently. I tried changing the tension. Mine is Singer sewing machine.
Your thread may be old, too thin, or the needle may be wrong.
I have a Gemsy, model gem8900, industrial machine. When the footpedal is stepped on hard the top thread breaks. Why is that? Please help. I am getting frustrated.
Your tension may be too tight. You may also have old thread, which breaks easily.
There are a number of common reasons for the bobbin thread in your sewing machine to break. Resolving these issues will make sewing easier.
