The average commercial building cleaners charge $35 an hour. You will need to determine how many hours it will take you and your crew to clean this space. Most office buildings, doctor's office, or commercial offices take around 4 hours to clean this size area.

However, considering this is a new constructed building and the dust and other factors left behind will take longer to clean. If you have a 3 man/woman team I would say this will take you between 5 to 6 hours to finish the job. I would estimate that your total charges should be around $210 to $250 to clean this space.

How much should I charge for a weekly cleaning of a 2000 - 2500 square foot, 3 bedroom and 3 bath home? She would also like her windows cleaned and her oven and refrigerator cleaned. Thanks for your help.

It depends on where you are and how much competition there is in your area. I would think that $125 is the minimum per week but $185 might be more realistic. I pay $90 for my (daughter's) 1 BR apartment once per month and $175 for my house. I have 6 BR, 3.5 bath but only ask for two bedrooms, kitchen and den to be done every month.

Good luck. Wish you were near me since the people that clean my house do a barely adequate job. They certainly do NOT do windows.

Depends if it's weekly or biweekly $140 is what I charge. Windows are an extra charge.

How much do I charge for the 1st cleaning of a very dirty, very cluttered 1 bedroom apartment? This is for a good male friend of mine. He has asked me to help him. He wants to straighten his place up. It's a total wreck, everything, every room. There are clothes everywhere, scrap electric things, junk kitchen a total mess, bathroom is unreal and the bedroom as well. There is no organization at all, not one room. It will take probably 2 or 3 days at 8 hrs a day, maybe more. Help me!

Are you truly helping him clean or will you be doing all the work yourself? If he is helping, too, I would probably charge around $50 a day.

If you're doing it all by yourself, I would charge at least $75 per day. Maybe more, depending on the amount of work involved.

I would search cleaning services to find out what they would charge and share that info with your friend. Then tell him what you will charge (maybe half?). Remember to wear gloves and a face mask in case you uncover "surprises" such as mold, insects, etc. Good luck!

You may want to ask around or do some online research. In our area, the average rate is around $20/hr. But some places it averages around $10/hr. Part of your pricing will depend on the depth of work you do, how efficient you are working together, etc. You may need to start pretty basic & as you gather more work, referals, & experience you can raise your rates accordingly.

If people hire you and you've gained their trust & confidence they are usually very grateful & not always but at times will give you a raise themselves. Word of mouth referals based on your work quality is priceless advertising. Good luck!

I am just curious as to what you would charge to clean a two story, four bedroom, four bath house, with kitchen, den, living room, and bonus room. I would clean once a week. They have three teenagers and two dogs they want cleaned up after as well.

House keepers charge anywhere from 25 to 75 an hour.I would charge 75 an hour.Since it is so big and your cleaning after quite a few people. You should also charge extra for special cleaning like windows,or scrubbing floors on hands and knees.

What is the going rate to do a complete cleanup for a restaurant that hasn't had a cleaning service in 2 years? I need to get cleaning back up to cleaning standards. It's 10,400 sq ft.

Not clear on what you mean by "cleaning standards"? I worked in restaurants as server and manager for 6 years getting through college so have some knowledge of restaurant quality standards.

Ouestions:
Are you experienced in cleaning restaurants?
Has this restaurant received a low hygiene rating by the city and requires specific cleaning?
What has the owner requested for the cleaning? Has the owner provided any information or direction from the city re problems?
Exactly what needs cleaning? If cleaning includes the kitchen, prep areas, dry and cold storage, customer area, etc., this is a tall order. If you will not be cleaning the kitchen, prep, etc. areas, less of a problem.

These questions and more must be considered to even begin to tally a cleaning price for this project. If the owner is not completely open about what they want and why, be careful!

One caveat here-If the owner is required by the city to bring the restaurant up to a required cleanliness level, you as the cleaning company are responsible to meet that quality level. If you clean the place and do not meet city requirements, you may be barred from future cleaning possibilities.

No thorough cleaning in 2 years-why? Does the owner have financial problems now or in the past?

You might want to think about charging per room or per task, or perhaps think of a list of regular duties that will be included in your basic clean such as floors swept/vacuumed/mopped, dusting, dishes, counter tops, bathrooms. What I would do is come up with a list of duties that you will do for each room of the house in which you will be cleaning and be considered your basic clean package. This is what you will do for the client every time you come, then add on to that for extra things that dont necessarily need to be done every time but just so often or on request. These extras can be things like changing the bed linens, cleaning out the fridge, laundry, window washing. For your basic clean you want to figure in what the supplies will cost for everything you need and you need to figure how long it should take you to do the work. How much do you want to make an hour? Say $10.00 per hour for example, so with your supplies lets just say it cost $20.00 and your gas to get there and home $10.00 Lets say it takes you 3 hours to do what you have come up with for the basic clean with everything added together thats $60.00 and then you add on for extra rooms, extra chores ect It is kind of hard to say how much you should just charge per hour because some people clean really fast and others really slow. What might seem like a very long day cleaning to you might look like you could of done more with the time you had to the customer, Usually it always will because your on their dime. With a set price per job they know what they are getting and what you expect to be paid. This also helps you not be taken advantage of by people making you do really grueling work for little to no money by the hour. Best of luck.

The rate is often determined not only by the size of the house and what the owner wants done, but also by the going rates in your area. I ran a small housecleaning service in the early 2000s near Portland, Oregon. There were two people working and our rate was $25 per hour, per person, as there are actually two man hours for every hour in the house.

If you are only asking $40 for the two of you then you might want to check around and see if $20 per hour is the going rate for a cleaning service that also does laundry. It might be a little low, depending on your area. Hope this helps.

You need to ask around to see what others are charging. In NY the fee is determined by the size of the home and number of bathrooms. My 3 bedroom, 2
Bath home would cost $100 to clean.

I work for a lady who is legally blind. I take her to do errands, cook occasionally, watch her 4 year old at the park /pool, and once a week I do the family laundry and clean the house. Daily I clean the kitchen and pick up the living room. I am paid $9.00 plus $25 a week in gas. Is that the going rate?

It's hard to say. It varies depending on where you live. My daughter pays $90 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house in NY.

Charge by the hour. The man could be a hoarder or have an infestation. Maybe not, but to avoid having to do hours of extra work for no extra pay, use an hourly rate that is competitive with prices in your area.

February 4, 20170 found this helpful

I live in California where everything is over-priced so I probably won't be much help as far as what to charge, certainly do not charge by the hour you will never make any money, but then again I'm not sure where you live or how fast or slow you work. If you want to take your time, then charge by the hour.
Here are some things to consider - travel time and what that will cost you. Who is providing the cleaning supplies? How much will that cost you. You probably want to provide cleaning supplies or see if the supplies you will have are sufficient and to your liking. You can spend a lot of time cleaning with cheap supplies (good if you are charging by the hour)
EXAMPLE he says DEEP CLEAN - that means it's probably really dirty and do yourself a favor and make sure you have some TILEX or something good for cleaning bathrooms, etc. and bring GLOVES.

Hope this helps you have a better experience, cleaning some else's house sounds easy, but when someone says deep clean, it's probably really gross. Don't forget the gloves. LOL Have fun

Maid services show the overall average as $30 per hour or $100 average for average sized house(?) but that really means nothing because charges have to be based on where the cleaning takes place.

Your situation seems entirely different as there is no average for what you are contemplating. Have you seen the condition or size of the areas you are being asked to clean? This may be a really dirty, time consuming job or not?

You may want to see the premises "first hand" and then decide if you will charge for the job or if you want to go with an hourly rate. Either way, you need to put your zip code in Google and ask for cleaning rates. This should give you some idea as to what to charge. If it is a dirty job, ask for more.

You need to first look at the place and see how dirty it is. What is the going rate in your area? How many hours will it take you? Your supplies or his?? What do you want to earn per hour after expenses? I would do it by the hour, in my area, for average cleaning job it would be $15 per hour.

I'm doing a one time clean on a 2800 sq.ft. home. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. The home was just recently completely remodeled so it will require everything to be cleaned including baseboards, windows, cabinets, etc.

I would like some feed back on what others charge for a onetime clean. I don't want to bid too high or too low.

People in my area charge for the job. They earn at least $40 and hour. A 2800 foot house is a large house, so I would charge at least $250 for this.

It varies depending on where you live. In my area, cleaners charge $10 an hour for residential and $15 an hour for businesses. If you provide your own cleaning supplies, vacuum and such then add a surcharge for that.

I clean a 4,799 sq ft. home biweekly. It is a 5 bedroom and 5 bathroom home. It also has a formal dining room, regular dining room, formal sitting room, regular living room, a huge kitchen with marble counters, sun room where they keep their dog and an office downstairs. I vacuum all throw carpets downstairs and upstairs on wood floors, sweep floors and mop, dust everything, clean windows, wipe down appliances, empty trash cans in every room, vacuum the basement, clean up their kids' toys, fold laundry sometimes and do dishes if there are any in sink. I also wash bedding, make beds, and organize and clean the sitting room off of the master bedroom. I start at 8 am every Tuesday and I don't usually get done until 12:30. What would you charge?

I have known this woman since we were kids. She is a dentist and I also clean her dental office. I actually get more to clean that than her huge home. I feel like I am being taken advantage of and not being paid my worth. Help! I am going to type up a letter to her letting her know of everything I do in her house and dental office, and asking for an increase in pay. We need to renegotiate the pay. Right now it's definitely not worth my time. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

10.00-12.00 per square foot should cover your costs. That's what I charge on homes over the 2000 square foot threshold. Sheets change, stove, windows and blinds are extra. Per item basis. Keeps it real simple! 10% break if they pay cash UPFRONT. Ive been cleaning for years in the Greenville SC area and have no problems getting work, turn it down daily!

I do contracting work for a real estate agency cleaning vacant houses and apts. I am now wanting to start my own business doing the same thing. However, I do not know how I should charge. I live in Pueblo, Colorado. I have been charging basically by the number of rooms at $20-25 a room, plus extra for appliances $25-$30.

I don't know if I am under pricing. Every time I call Merry Maids they seem to be charging up to $100 more. Can you help please?

Being self-employed, CJNKD, certainly is fraught with questions and kudos to you for being willing to go out on your own!

Of course cleaning rates vary from one part of the country to another. Up here (Calgary, Canada) the going rate is $30 - $35 per hour but with most businesses, the way I understand it at least, is to start with a reasonable and competitive rate (which means calling several companies to find out what they charge). Let your potential customers know you charge a bit less until you establish a reputation for reliability and perhaps going a bit over and above expectations. As your schedule becomes increasingly busy, gradually increase your rates and don't be afraid to add "the best" to your business cards and / or company name.

Wishing you every success!
