So the other day I bleached my hair. It came out orange from the bleaching. Then I dyed it medium brown, but it is now an almost dark grayish, indigo color. My hair is naturally a dark brown. What can I do to fix this without going to the salon?

You should try to get as much of the dye out of your hair as possible. Baking soda, vinegar and even dandruff shampoo all work well to do this one. Here is a link to teach you how to do this one. bellatory.com/.../How-to-Remove-Hair-Dye-with-Baking...

Considering your hair is dark and you tried to bleach your hair the normal results is orange hair. You may need to strip your hair completely before dying it again. Before doing this one try and deep condition your hair for several days and try again.

I had my hair bleached to remove the blue black permanent color which I have had for years. I put a permanent steel blue color on it, but it didn't take at the ends so I covered it with African violet semipermanent color. It looked lovely for a couple of days, now I'm left looking like a mermaid's color hair, light blue and green.

I've short hair. I don't want to be a blonde. Can I recolor with a dark blue or violet or even put blue black permanent back on?Re-dyeing Hair to Fix Hair Color Gone Wrong - current color hair

In order to not damage your hair further I would do a few deep conditioners before applying another hair color to your hair.

If you need to remove some of the green color or the other color you can try mixing 1/2 and 1/2 lemon juice and putting this on your hair. Leave it in your hair for around 1 to 2 hours.

Then shampoo and condition your hair.

This should remove most of the color in your hair and then you can wait one to two days and dye it back the blue/black color you had before.

Some of the semi colors that people use in their hair wash out quickly and will your hair with a different color than expected.

Oh help. I recently decided to dye my hair dark brown, my natural hair color, before the gray came. I have been blonde for years. The gray mixes right in a whole lot easier. Anyways, I now look like an Easter Egg.

I did go to a shop and got blonde highlights put it, it looked good, but the gray came in quickly. So I went back, and wanted more blonde. It came out looking like I had a calico cat sitting on my head.

I immediately went and bought a Revlon blonde bleaching kit. My hair came out very light blonde at the roots, with all the rest a reddish blonde with lighter blonde highlights. It looked like nothing I've ever seen in nature.

So I went back to the beauty shop and the tech applied a soap cap, which I guess is diluted bleach, unsure, and my hair did come out very light, but the reddish blonde is now yellow.

Short of shaving my head or wearing a babushka, I'm not sure what to do now. Should I just wait and keep getting it cut (I wear it short anyways)? I have strong hair, but I'm not sure how much more abuse I can hit it with and still have any left.

I would not. Use your desired color in a semi permanent form. If you use permanent dye now you can damage your hair.

My hair stylist messed up my hair on retouch. From blonde she went to reddish brown. To fix it, she made it either blonde or white streaks to cover it up. I want to go blonde again. Please help.

If it were me, I'd demand that my stylist refund my money or fix my hair the way I want it. If she cannot fix it, then she should refund your money so you can go to someone who can fix it. I know it's hard to confront people and especially if you've been seeing your stylist for awhile but if he or she is reputable, they will want to make sure their clients are happy and especially if it was her mistake to begin with.

Once I had a stylist "burn" my hair with a perm. I went from hair down to the middle of my butt to hair that barely brushed my shoulders and the hair I had left was like straw. It was frizzy and broke off at my scalp. Horrible! The stylist worked with me for 6 months for free with free moisturizing treatments, free shampoo and free hair cuts until my hair looked good again. She could not give me back my long hair but she worked hard to rectify her mistake.

If you cannot bring yourself to do the above, then you might ask another stylist what your options are or if you just have to wait a few weeks to have a re-do so you don't totally damage your hair.

So I have naturally dark brown hair and in November of 2019 I dyed it a purple red color right over my natural hair. I didn't lighten it at all. It slowly faded to a pretty purple red tint and was lighter too. I just dyed it two days ago spontaneously to dark blue. I dyed it right over the other color.

And let me say both of these were permanent dyes. So yeah I don't like the blue and I know it will fade to green so I have no idea what to do. Do I dye it black or will that still turn green? Do I put a red dye over it to make purple? I have no idea. Help please.

I would suggest going to your local Walmart or Walgreens and find a dark brown, close to your natural color or a bit darker if you prefer. Loreal and Clairol have some beautiful permanent colors to choose from and are always easy to apply. Good luck!

Hi

I would try to take the dye out of your hair. To do this, soak hair, in white vinegar, each day, for ten minutes, then wash out. This vinegar treatment might give you a better base color to re-dye your hair. Vinegar won't hurt your hair.

if you are really attached to having a good outcome, I would advise to invest in a visit with a reputable salon as they would be able to guide you

if you're feeling experimental, do any of the things suggested here

the thing to keep in mind to mixing hair dyes is that you use the exact same brand, and the same tonality, and are complementary. You can get ugly greenish hues, for instance, if you mix ash based tones with red based tones.

Ash are your cooler tones.

Just like in painting, if you mix cool-based hues with warm-based hues, you get mud.

so if you do choose to dye on top of your current dye job, i recommend that you use the same brand you used then, and that you choose whatever kind (ash, brown, or red) you used. if not, you probably won't like what you get

Use something like Color Oops to get the closest result to your original hair, then put a brown on it, I'd say. That is, if you want your brown hair back :)

Basically, my hair has been ombré for about a year now, I went to the hairdresser's a few weeks ago to have it done a bit lighter (rebleached), however I was unhappy with the results as they had put highlights up to my roots and I had not asked for that. I thought I'd leave it a few days and see how I felt. I still wasn't happy at all. I bought a natural brown box dye and dyed it all. This then turned my hair brown with khaki tones and a slightly ginger root. I have really long hair so this upset me so much. My hair had become a disaster. After a week or so, my hairdresser said she could re-dye my hair, putting the red tones back in my hair too so the khaki tint would go. This was successful however I've had to have a lot cut off my hair which has made me extremely upset and there's still ginger tones in the top of my hair. Therefore my questions are...

Will these ginger tones fade over time? How can I get them out quicker? Also what are some things I could use to make my hair grow faster? Im missing my long hair so so much!
I need help.

What was your original hair colour? If darker than the ginger, no it will stay. If lighter, yes it will go away. Take biotin to make your hair grow-- totally works.

Fixing Green Hair.
Red will neutralize green. Buy a large bottle of ketchup.

Step 1
Apply the ketchup to your hair and massage it in.

Step 2
Cover the head with a shower cap.

Step 3
Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 4
Take the cap off rinse out thoroughly.

You may need to strip out the blue color in your hair before dying it again. I would not try dying your hair over and over again because it seems the results are the same. I would go to a college beauty school and see if anyone can give you some advice. They can normally do this for you at a very reasonable price.

Your hair health is going to suffer if you keep trying home remedies. This may be one time to go to a salon and have this resolved by a pro. Too many treatments are going to make your hair brittle and it could start to fall out. That would not be good.

Post back what you decide!

Do not dye again for two weeks. You could use a detergent based shampoo to tone down the purple.

If its permanent dye you put on, no. You will have to strip it. If it's semi permanent you will have to wait a few weeks to colour correct.

I'm a natural golden blonde. I dyed my hair a very light blonde (permanent hair box dye) in February and my roots are gray, yuck (I'm 40), so I found myself dyeing it every 3 weeks. This past week I got tired of the bright yellow and wanted a honey color.

It was brown within 30 seconds and then became greenish through the week. I dyed it last night and it's grayish/gold/blue. Can someone help me?

You need to go to a professional. If money is an issue, go to a beauty school. The students are carefully supervised.

I once bleached my naturally curly hair too much and I looked like a dandelion. I started trying to get my natural dark blonde back and went from nearly black to a strawberry blonde, which I liked, but I found that even permanent hair color will wash out. Still, permanent color changes your hair so I finally just let it grow out.

Bleaching has to grow out. Try some hair setting mousse with color, like Fanci-ful's color mousse. It washes out, so if you don't like it, you don't have to keep it, and even if you do, you'll need to use it every time you wash your hair. My gray is nearly white now, but the mousse covers it up temporarily.

I've also used some of the different root cover-ups (Clairol, L'oreal) with good results.

Lol I can help you. First of all we need to establish what color you are trying to be. Then Ill try to walk you thru a basic solution.

First off, get a bowl and mix 2 tspspoons of baking soda, with 1 tablespoon of any clear shampoo. For extra.. add a few draws of dawn soap. Use with warm water.

Second we need to balance your head, so if your color is blue, we will use color theory to correct the blue. This will work best with a color toner or toner conditioner.

What is blues complimentary color? Orange? And what is greens? Red? So if I were you, Id look for an orange and a red toner, mix 2-1 more orange than red, add to a serving of conditioner, rinse with cold water.

I had bleached hair and I tried to give it a more natural blonde look, which backfired. I thought that an ashy blonde would work, but I was wrong and now I'm a silver fox. I need normal hair in one day and I am willing to go brunette, I just need advice on how to do that so I don't mess it up again!

I think it might be a good time for you to experiment with henna. It can be found pretty much anywhere I think and definitely at ethnic groceries.

Henna is an ancient hair dyeing plant that many people even use instead of regular dyeing due to toxins in dyes. I think there are different tonalities of auburn, red, and brown available'

considering you are having a hair emergency due to excess dyeing/bleaching, henna seemed like a good home safe alternative

Go with a semi permanent colour. It will last 3-5 weeks and it's easy to touch up.

Answer this Question

I had an acquaintance who is a cosmetologist do my hair, she told me that stripping my hair would be the best option. However I've been doing my hair for two years and I've never had a problem reapplying color after color. I listened to her, stripped my hair and it turned into this orange blonde color and then she colored my hair immediately after. The color turned out completely wrong.

My ultimate goal was to become a dark purple and it's definitely more red with some blonde orange tones in it. I just don't know what to do right now. What would my next step be to achieving my dark purple color after doing the stripper in my hair? Not to mention my ends are completely messed up after doing that stripper. I should've never done it and I already knew it was a mistake, but I let her do it anyways.

Can someone please help me and direct me to what I need to do next to achieve my dark purple plum color? Do I just put color on top of color now? Which is probably what I should've done in the first place.

At this point, especially with your hair ruined at the ends, I'd suggest you put purple over it and trim your ends. If it ends up looking a maroon-purple tone since you're going over red-orange, apply a semi perm purple with a blue base to it in 3 weeks. I've done exactly this going from red to purple and it looked awesome. (No stripping)

First, cut off the ruined ends. Then apply a semi-permanent purple dye. Deep- condition weekly and then in a few weeks you can try again.

Sorry you are having a rough go with the dyes.

Take a few weeks now and be kind to your hair. Don't over style, wash, or fuss with it and use gentle and natural conditioners. This website has some long time standards:

When I was young, the banana mask was a very inexpensive go to with bananas that were going to be tossed because they weren't edible (browning).

Word of caution though... be sure to rinse it out thoroughly (but gently) before going outside...especially when it is bee season...you don't want to become an attraction for the stingers of the neighborhood.
