Identifying Little Biting Bugs

September 14, 2013

Identifying Little Biting BugsI have tons of these little, biting, flying insects that have infested my home so much that I hate coming back to my house. I don't know whether they are gnats or midges or what but, they are biting and annoying me so badly. They even like to fly in your ear, up your nose, in your eyes, and in your clothing while on you.

I think I have brought them in from my job because that is where the biting started. I work at a manufacturing plant around a lot of oil, solvents, etc. They like to fly around anything that is dirty or filthy. Can someone please help on a suggestion on how to kill and get rid of them?

I have never seen flies or gnats that were ever interested in oil or solvents. They like decaying matter, garbage, and such stuff. If your home is so infested, I think it is time for you to resort to tried and true chemical warfare. Buy some Raid. If the infestation is as horrible as you say, this is not the time to try essential oils and apple cider vinegar. Buy something that works to kill flying insects.

I live in Tennessee and I have read a thousand posts and I am still so unsure of what I have. There are tiny black bugs that very faintly look like they have or might have a brown head. They bite and it will leave a welt. They are so small, like the size of a pin head, it looks like a strawberry seed or something.

I considered bed bugs, but have looked over mattresses, carpet, etc. and never see anything. These bugs don't look anything like the bed bug pictures I have seen. What are these little pests and how do I get rid of them?

A pest exterminator company specialist will be able to help you to identify the bugs and decide on a plan to prevent them from coming into your house.

I have been trying to figure this out for 5 years and yes I have heard just about everything from "fibers to molds and fungus and aliens to mites" At this point I have a good idea what my little friends are but there are some things that still make me wonder. like the little specks of fiber balls that hair like tentacles going out in different directions like a web growing on some shirts and stuff. A collection of black threads.

Spent a lot of money too because greed makes some people do some bad things. I've learned to live with my sores and itches and all the other discomfort that comes with these invaders more and more of us are getting. Vinegar and alcohol and spray it on whatever. I have lots of pics if want to see them. I thought maybe there might be something new. My story is just like yours. Do you get called crazy or too many drugs? Have any friends left? Good luck and fight the good fight.

A small white fluff on a fabric surface.

A piece of partially eaten fruit.

An orange cleaning cloth.

A small clear package.

These new photos look like head or body lice. And the old photo of the web-like structure could be the lice "cocoons". If you need to, find a different dermatologist, until this problem is resolved...you should not have to live with this problem !!!!!!

It will take treatment of you AND your home, to get rid of this annoying insect. Good luck and post back how it goes.

I have been so very desperate, for the last 5 plus years. I have had black bugs all over the floor and I would get bitten. I read one of your letters and a woman said she used hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. I too, have spent thousands of dollars and nothing worked. I keep a pretty clean house, so I'm baffled.

As of Friday I had a broken screen. I have some type of white, biting bug and I'm going crazy. Black bugs are bad enough, but these white floating, whatever they are, are truly eating me alive. In the past I've contacted pest control, tried do it yourself solutions, but nothing works. Not even the hydrogen peroxide in the spray bottle helps. Please help me.

I used to have annoying little black bugs which I found were breading in the kitchen sink hole.
I have wiped all surfaces of the house and sprayed lemongrass essential oil all over the house and they have magically gone.

I have started to notice bite marks on me that are itchy. Then I started noticing more so I looked on my bed to see if I saw any bed bugs, but nothing. So I thought maybe fleas, but I also don't see anything. One day I found a bug on me that was really tiny and red. When I squished it, it had an unpleasant odor. Every time I feel a pinch and I pass my hand over where I felt it I smell the odor. Then it gets itchy followed by a little lump that looks like a mosquito bite.

So what kind of bug could it be?

Go to the doctors, or the pharmacy for some advice. I don't know what it is but it doesn't sound very nice and may give you a nasty illness. Use Tea Tree oil on the bites that helps everything!

Take care

Are you seeing these bugs inside, or outside? Tiny red bugs sound like chiggers to me, we have them really bad here in Oklahoma. They get on you outside. Their bite doesn't usually itch right away, but when it kicks in, it's miserable!

I've been getting bitten these past few days on my feet and lower legs. I found a few of these bugs on my bed crawling. I have about 6 bites on my feet and ankles. They are small itchy and red.

I washed my sheets and found some more on the top and sides of the mattress. I also found them on the bed frame. Are these bed bugs? What do I do?Identifying Biting Bugs on Bed

I work in a factory that has a shaft running under our work desk. The factory has been many different things in the past including a modular home factory. The people in this little office keep getting bitten by something and it makes us itch and leaves little red marks and when you scratch they turn into welts.

Now just recently one of the girls that sits next to me said she seen one land on her and it was green. These are so tiny I don't see them. I have marks on my neck and my arm is just horrible. They bite your legs. We don't know what it is, but it's not in our hair. Can somebody help?

I am trying to identify a tiny bug. It's a clear bug with a tiny tiny black spot on its back and when you kill them it pops. You can hear it pop an it is full of blood? It's biting the hell out of the old man and he says they are under his skin.

He works out doors doing lawn care and handy man services and he does construction. What could this be and how can I help him get rid of the ones under his skin and from in or around our home?

I found this bug on my bed, it's extremely tiny and very hard to see. My bed is also by a window, like right up against it so sometimes I get carpet beetles and spiders by my bed. Anyway I don't know what this is, but lately I've been getting very itchy bites on my body. I keep thinking it's bed bugs, but I check my bed every morning all round the sides, under the sheet, mattress and still nothing. This has been going on for a couple weeks.Identifying a Bug Found on the Bed

The bits don't look like bed bug bites, they look like raised white mosquito bites honestly. And they are pretty big bites, like a normal mosquito bite. I was laying in bed one morning and there was a beetle type thing on my arm and it ran off to the pillow. I grabbed it quickly and observed it, but killed it before I got a picture. I looked up what it looked like and it reminded me of a bed bug, though it was larger than normal bed bugs. The bug I saw had a round body, was a orangish brown color and had stripes on its back. I'm kinda thinking this bug I found tonight is a baby bed bug but? I may just be very paranoid. And also I don't usually have allergic reactions to sheets, blankets, or the soaps in the wash so it can't be that. I've had mites before and it's not the same bites either.

What are these bugs? They are very tiny. I place a bright lamp on the floor and they seem to come to it. They will bite. They mostly crawl, but will fly.

I had some new potting soil a few weeks back and thought they might have been in that. I just want them gone.

For the past week I've been getting bitten during the day by these tiny bugs. I can hardly make out what they look like because they're so small. I've come to the conclusion they may be some sort of 'mite', chigger, rat mite, or such because I've rules out other possibilities. They're not bothering other members of my household, only me. I did find one on my older son and bites on my baby.

The bugs bite me on my torso under my clothing and sometimes my legs. I feel like they have been other places too like my arms. When they bite there's a small red dot of blood and it's super itchy. If I scratch or lift my shirt while they bite they run away fast! They die if I capture them and put them in alcohol. Any ideas?

Put the bugs in a sealed plastic bag. Take it to a place that sells pesticides and and they will help you

They do sound like a chigger to me. Have you googled chiggers to see if they resemble what's biting you?

This bug is dark red in colour. It can fly over a short distance. It also has this unique scent which is transferred to our fingers if we hold it. The largest of these bugs that I have seen at my place is around 4 mm.

They bite at night it seems as, I get these itches and marks over my body after I wake up. And this has been just before I saw these bugs first.
