Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - open coffin with candy and other Halloween decorationsYou can make these cute little coffins out of craft paper and decorate them how you please. I fill them up with candy to hand out to my friends for Halloween. Trick or treat at any age!

I've added the coffin template for you to print out, cut out, and trace onto your black craft paper. You can resize it to make them smaller or larger. I used mini candy skulls from the dollar shop as decor on the coffin. You can find them in the Halloween section.

Total Time: 45 minutes

Supplies:

  • coffin template print out
  • craft paper (black, white, patterned)
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • bonefolder
  • thin double-sided tape (like Tear Tape)
  • pen
  • mini skulls

Steps:

  1. Cut out the coffin template and trace it onto the black craft paper with a pencil. Draw the fold lines just like they are on the template.
  2. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - trace the coffin template including fold lines

  3. Cut out the 2 coffin pieces.

  5. Using your bonefolder or something like a credit card, firmly fold the paper where denoted by hard lines.
  6. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - fold along lines

  7. Flip over the coffin pieces after folding. Add double-sided tape on the portions to match this photo.
  8. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - flip over after folding and add double sided tape as shown

  9. Fold the pieces into each other and press to stick.
  10. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - fold pieces together and press to seal

  11. This is what the base and lid will look like.

  13. Cut out a strip of patterned paper and place on the coffin lid. Cut to size, then stick on with tape.
  14. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - cut out a piece of patterned paper to fit on lid and stick on with tape

  15. Cut out a thinner strip of white craft paper to place on the patterned piece. I like to fold the edge over to make a cutting guide.
  16. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - strip of white paper folded to fit before cutting

  17. Write your message or name on the white paper, then tape onto the patterned paper.
  18. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - write name or message on the white paper and stick in place

  19. Tape a skull onto the top.
  20. Paper Coffin Treat Boxes - tape on a skull
