Welcome! I am Stella. My family and I run Thriftyfun. Thriftyfun is a homegrown business, started by my mother and my brothers, and shortly after my sister and I joined in to help. I am so proud to be a part of the Thriftyfun team.

I enjoy being outdoors, dancing, music, travel, and making things. I strive to live a frugal and sustainable life and am always looking for tips to improve. I am a mother of 3 and over the years we have split our time between the Pacific Northwest where I was born and raised and Da Nang, Vietnam, where my husband is from.

A bowl of Instant Pot Lemongrass Chicken (Ga Kho Sa)

Instant Pot Lemongrass Chicken (Ga Kho Sa)This is one of my family's favorite recipes. The meat comes out tender and fragrant. As a note, I use heaping tablespoon measurements for the garlic, shallots and lemongrass. My husband loves chicken with bones and my kids like boneless so I do half and half for this recipe. If you don't add bones, I would add a tablespoon of Better Than Bouillon chicken broth.

Halloween Saltine Toffee

Halloween Saltine ToffeeThis saltine toffee is just the sugar bomb you need for Halloween. It is easy to make and is a great gift. This version is made with white chocolate, but you can use any type of chocolate chips you like.

A bowl of Halloween Chex party mix.

Halloween Chex Party MixHere is an easy way to make Chex party mix into a fun Halloween themed treat. This recipe is for a double batch. I mostly stuck to the original Chex recipe but instead of bagel chips, I added Bugles, which remind me of cornucopias. I also added Halloween peanut butter M&Ms.

The decorated reindeer Rice Krispie treats.

Reindeer Rice Krispie TreatsThis is a simple way to decorate Rice Krispie treats for Christmas. These cute reindeer treats are sure to bring anyone some holiday cheer.

A small jar containing hot chocolate mix.

Homemade Hot Chocolate MixThis hot cocoa is chocolaty with a hint of cinnamon. Not only is making your own hot cocoa mix delicious, but it can make a great gift for the holidays. My friend is a chef and he had to make special hot chocolate mixes each year for the hotel attached to the restaurant he worked at. We based this recipe on one of his favorites. This is also quite inexpensive.
