Inexpensive Seasonal Flags
Does anyone know where I might find a set or several garden/decorative flags with holiday or seasonal themes at a thrifty price? I have several small flags (about 12in x 18in) for the mini flag poles, but would like to mount a flagpole on my porch for the larger house/decorative flags (about 2' x 3').
Neighbors Cook with Curry
I have just recently moved into a 2nd and 3rd floor apartment. My neighbors below cook with curry every day (twice a day) and the curry scent is so powerful in my apartment, it makes my roommate and I sick. The aroma is so strong in my sleeping room that my eyes burn from the odor. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to rid our apartment of the smell?
Hanging Lightweight Wooden Carving
I have a 5' L x 1/4in carved piece I have sanded and finished. It is light in weight and I want to hang it as a cornice in my kitchen bay window. I don't want to nail it to the shelf over the window as I don't want to put nails in it. Since it is light in weight I considered velcro. Are there any other suggestions as to how to hang this from the shelf edging? Mahalo

What is 'Packed' Brown Sugar?
When a recipe calls for 'packed brown sugar' what is this? We have ordinary brown sugar and treacle sugar here in South Africa. I'm not sure what the 'packed' is.
New Brake Pads Still Squeaky
I just had my pads replaced at Christmas on an '06 Malibu. They are still squeaking and seem to be getting worse. They stop fine but I'm wondering if I should be concerned. Anyone have any advice?
My Frugal Life: Cut Any Corner You Can
I'm frugal because I just don't like throwing my money around! Not that I have a lot, being a single parent and not having a well paid job. There is also a deep sense of satisfaction knowing that I can do most things in a cheaper way. I like to try to be as 'green' as possible too.
Spring Bird Headband
This is a very simple craft indeed. Great for little girls who love nature and easy for anyone to create! Be sure to supervise little ones (there are sharp wires on the craft birds).

Saving Money on Window Cleaner
Tips for saving money on window cleaner as posted from the ThriftyFun community. Don't pay extra for Windex. Wait until your auto parts store has car windshield cleaner on sale and stock up. Save dollars by refilling your spray bottles at home.
Craft Ideas Using Crib Bumper Pads
I have crib bumpers for my twins that I am not using because of safety issues. But they came with the bedding set and are so cute! Any creative ideas for things I can do with them, besides making pillows out of them?
Use Loose Leaf Paper In Your Printer
Here is a great tip that I came up with out of "desperation": I love to peruse craft websites and print out free directions for ones I want to do later. Well, one day I went to print out a couple and found I was out of printer paper.
Sprinkle chicken breasts with seasoned salt. Brown in margarine. Remove to platter and saute onion, thinly sliced, in the same pan.
Educational Customizable Game Shows
Found a great web site for teachers. Templates of many popular game shows (example Who Wants to Be a Millionaire) that you could add your own questions.
Crescent Apple Dessert
Unroll crescent dough onto an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan; seal seams and perforations. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 10 minutes. Combine the walnuts, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg; sprinkle over crust.
Stretch Eggs With Powdered Eggs
As expensive as a dozen of eggs have gotten over the recent months, a good way to extend them is to add some dry powdered cafeteria eggs or Army powdered eggs or other if you can get them! Sometimes you can find them at the Mennenite stores if you are lucky enough to have one near you!
This is a Valentine's mailbox that I made for my neighbor girl. They had a contest at school and she won second place with it.
Prepare Minute rice according to directions on package; set aside. Cook broccoli and drain. Add Cheez Whiz while broccoli is hot.
Corned Beef Hash
This is an easy pleaser. Boil potatoes, carrots and an onion until tender, add a can of corned beef and salt and pepper.
Cleaning Condiment and Toiletry Lids
Condiment lids get really icky and need to be cleaned like most anything else does. My ickiest one is catsup! Every once in awhile, take off the cap and soak it a little while in water (I drop mine into a coffee cup that also needs soaked a bit) and the buildup comes off easy.
Slice loaf of bread down middle and lightly spread with margarine. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Mix equal amounts of both cheeses with mayonnaise to right consistency for spreading.
Making Your Own Dress Form
For those of you who sew, you all know how much it would help if you had your own dress form. (To get the correct fit on my garments, I'm always trying-on my sewing projects inside-out, and getting stuck with pins while trying to look in the mirror while pining behind my back at the same time!)
Pour 1/2 can cream of chicken and 1/2 can of cream of celery into a bowl with the diced onion and 1/2 of the package of shredded cheese. Microwave until it is melted and stir. Mix chicken together with the microwaved portion.
Save Beef and Veggie Leftovers in the Freezer
Experts say that the best way to SLASH your grocery bill is to eliminate the waste-stop throwing things out! Here is my way of salvaging the tablespoon of corn or green beans that is not enough to eat but I can't bear to throw out.
Artichoke-Dilled Potato Salad
Scrub potatoes under running water. Cook unpeeled potatoes, covered, in boiling water (lightly salted), 20 minutes or until just tender. Drain and cool. Cut in halves or quarters.
Using Tea Tree Oil for Cleaning
Using 2 cups of water and several drops of pure tea tree oil will clean dirt off windowsills, and clean mostly anything wooden. Also use tea tree oil, diluted with water and sprayed on a child's hair, keeps the lice away.
Audrey (Terrier Mix) In The Water
When we moved to Hawaii, Audrey came along (of course). We lived there for about 2 years. Here is her first experience with water and swimming, when we went kayaking in Kaneohe Bay on Oahu. She used her tail like an above-the-water rudder, very cute!
