Banana Smoothie

Banana SmoothieDon't pitch those over ripe bananas. Freeze them in slices. They are good to munch on, put in oatmeal, bake with or even make a smoothie.

All-in-one Breakfast Toast

All-in-one Breakfast ToastToday I got up to leftover country gravy and no biscuits. What to do? I put together everything that would be on a breakfast plate in just one simple toast boat.

A hand stamped gift wrapped package.

Five Minute Emergency Gift WrapMy mom got a last minute invite to an event and she needed to take a gift along. As a crafter, I always have gifts that could be given, but what to do to wrap the gift? There was no time for water colors or food colors, as I needed to make gift wrap that would dry almost instantly and would still look presentable.

A canning jar with cut up carrots and celery.

Keep Celery and Carrots Fresh for WeeksCarrots and celery wilt away in the veggie drawer if not eaten in a few days, how sad! I tend to go through 'phases' where I want veggies for awhile, and then they get shoved behind a delicious PIE, where they die a quiet death. With this tip they get a second chance, and so do I!

Celery Rose Shaped Stencil Stamp

Celery Rose Shaped Stencil StampI love craft painting with stencils and stamps. And not all stamps have to be expensive. I have seen them carved out of erasers, foam rubber, even potatoes. How about celery? If cut near the root end and used as a stamp, celery leaves a surprisingly lovely "rose" imprint- let me show you how!

A stack of different storage containers.

Use Matching Storage Containers In KitchenThe sugar came in a 5 lb. paper bag. The cocoa came in a round tin. The dark brown sugar came in a plastic bag. The light brown sugar came in a paper box. Imagine storing these conveniently, side by side.

salmon pink dahlia

Pink DahliaThis is a beautiful red-pink dahlia growing at my grandparents' house! Their garden is full of flowers and I absolutely love the colours of this one and the way each petal unfolds.

Baking Pan Chalkboard

Baking Pan ChalkboardI took an old baking pan and painted it with chalkboard paint. Then I painted the handles that have holes and around the edge with a nice red color. I tied a pretty ribbon out through the holes and used whimsical tape to make a border at the top and bottom.

three kittens in a box

My Adorable KittensMy cat gave birth to these three kitties about 2 months ago. They are extremely tiny and love to cuddle and sleep. They like to hide inside boxes and cupboards for fun!

dust covered dryer sheet in woman's hand

Re-Use Dryer Sheets for DustingI'm always looking for ways to stretch a dollar, and if I have something that can be used more than once, or for more than one job, I'm sold. I use dryer sheets, but it seems like such a waste to use them once and then throw them away. I discovered that they are great for dusting.

Make Your Fruit Crumble Perfect

Make Your Fruit Crumble PerfectThe crumb mix on a fruit crumble can so easily turn soggy where it touches the fruit. To prevent this, cook the crumb mixture separately by spreading it out on a baking tray. When it has started to brown, sprinkle it on top of the stewed fruit then return the two together to the oven to keep hot until you are ready to eat it.

forward facing thumbprint turkey

Thumbprint TurkeyTurkeys play a huge role during Thanksgiving. Children enjoy activities and crafts surrounding this large bird. I found a super easy to make craft, appropriate for all ages, and allowing for some individualism. Each child gets to use their own thumbprints to create their turkeys, so every craft is unique!

Seasonal Bird Bath Decoration

Seasonal Bird Bath DecorationI decorated a bird bath with small pumpkins, gourds, dried leaves, twigs, and a pot of winter flowers. Other holiday decor can be used. A festive ribbon and bow could be tied at the base of the birdbath to add more color.
