Clay Pot GalMy good friend Andrea, lives in an apartment. Outside her door is a place she can put a decoration or plant. She had one that "disappeared". She went looking and found it on the floor above her. DH wanted to make this to replace it for her.
Take a Short Car RideYou have all heard about "the good old days". Well, they were. We never have had enough money to throw away. We traveled once every year or two to see family.
Children's Garden Gifts (The Path Garden)Looks like someone has been busy decorating in the "Path Garden" again. Hubby found these last Saturday. He hung two of the bird houses in trees, put the smallest on a pole back in the garden, and placed the shells back where they were left.
Chicken and Black Bean ChiliI submitted this because so many people like black beans and Mexican flavors. I have not made it and most likely will not because of the chiles and some of the other ingredients (allergic).
Tipsy Flower Pots (The Path Garden)I had been wanting to make on of these planters for The Path Garden for a couple of years. Just hadn't gotten around to it. The 99 Cent store had the clay pots so I got 5 and asked DH to go get the rebar for it.
Recipe for a Happy MarriageJust being sentimental. ;-)
Cream Puffs (1920)This is from a Jan. 15, 1920 newspaper clipping. A simply delicious scratch recipe.
Nearly Sugar Free PieThis can be made in a few minutes and in the fridge before dinner. Here are three pictures for a step by step recipe.
Butter Almond CrunchSounded easy so I'm going to try making this for Christmas gift giving along with my favorite Divinity Fudge. The Pineapple Fudge was a hit last year.
Freezing Zest in Wax PaperMy good friend visited a few days and showed me how she freezes lemon or orange zest and juice from one fruit. She uses a zester or fine grater on waxed paper, then folds it over several times and lays it flat.
Old Fountain into New PlanterOur old southwest fountain finally "bit the dust" and no longer held water. Try as we would, it could not be saved. So we decided to fill it with dirt and added some plants and a bird nest to add interest to the front yard. We always try not to add to the landfill.
Succulents in the Path GardenA friend donated this plant. I don't know the name, she collects succulents and has many. She doesn't know the names of all of them yet. But the flowers are so pretty and there were 6-8 on the one plant this year. Now they are growing so fast and I will move more of them around in The Path Garden and will have to plant some in pots for the "plant give away" next spring. I pray that we'll get rain this year. The Path Garden isn't doing well with out it.
December RosesWith winter being so bad in many parts of the country now I hope everyone will enjoy the roses that we have blooming in the yard. Some of them are as big as my hand.
Recovering Aloe PlantHere is that same aloe plant after the January freeze we had in Southern California. It is recovering.
Warning About Lights in JarsThriftyFun recently had an article about using glass jars. Notice the wires that were taken out of the glass vase. They are discolored due to the heat produced inside the glass.
Jupiter's Beard in the Path GardenJupiter's Beard is a good cut flower. It self seeds. They need little water and is surviving in poor clay soil here on the "Path Garden". It could be a weed soon.
