Save Money on Shaving

Shaving is an expensive habit! A good way to increase the longevity of your razors is to keep them clean. Use an old toothbrush to dislodge hair from the blades that water alone won't get to. Also try shaving with soap and a lather brush. If you don't have particularly sensitive skin you can save a lot on shaving cream.

For women who shave their underarms, I have found that my razors last longer when I scrub off the deoderant with a scrubee before I shave.

Use a cheap brand of hair conditioner as a shaving cream. It is both smooth and moisturizing.
Also to avoid razor burn or bumps when shaving the bikini line, rub a little vaseline over where you shaved.

Instead of those expensive shave gels, creams and lotions try this!
There is a dollar store in every neighborhood, which is where I go, and pick up inexpensive hair conditioner, works great for shaving your legs and makes your skin soft as well!

I also use conditioner on my legs - I put it in my hair, then on my legs, shave, and meanwhile it's conditioning my hair. By the time I rinse it out, my hair is soft and so are my legs!

We share a razor and blades, sort of. When he's done with a blade it goes in a small decorative box. When I use the razor, I remove his current blade and insert one of the recycled blades. When I'm done, I can either clean and store the blade or toss it. I replace his current blade in the razor. (I only shave about once a week.)

It's plenty sharp for me to use, and we aren't constantly buying two sets of shaving supplies. We have two razors of the same type. One is in the travel bag, one sits on the sink. I'm not fussy. I don't have to have a pink/blue/yellow razor to scrape hair off my bod!

Instead of purchasing expensive shaving cream, I use the conditioner that we get when staying overnight in hotels. My husband travels several times during the year and he always brings home the little bottle of conditioners, lotions, etc. Try it!

I've shaved with hair conditioner, baby oil and lotion and they all work great. If i do by shaving cream, it is the 99c one. I like cheap conditioner the best, it makes my legs soft!

Perhaps this is too simple, but...buy an electric shaver? They have ones that are waterproof now and my last one lasted me 17 years. ($1.76/year)

Use soap instead of shaving cream & buy the cheapest razors that you can find. At Family Dollar they have a 12 pack of razors for just $1

I read a tip on here this spring that stated when you are done shaving with your disposable razor rinse it and store in in a container with a little oil in it. I have mine in a plastic container with a lid that drink mix came in, and I use baby oil. It is tall so only the head of the razor is submerged.

I have been using the same razor for over 6 months and it still cuts like new! When the oil gets all the little hair floaties in it, which you will wonder how they get in there since you rinse it so well, time to change the oil.
