I have a multi-cat household. After years of using covered litter boxes, which help keep litter in, but are time consuming to clean, I realized maybe a long and deep storage box would work. I now have several long, somewhat deep, not too deep, some of my cats are elderly, boxes. I save a lot of time when I clean them.
You can also use the lids that come with the boxes, to put between the wall and the box, as a splash guard! Since they are not called pet boxes, they are cheaper, too!

This is a good idea, and one I think my husband and I will put to use today! We are fostering a six year old cat over winter (which can be brutal here in the northern UK) until his furrever home is ready to accept him, and as he was an outdoor cat (not feral but close) the litter tray has been having to be completely changed every single day, sometimes twice a day.
Using a storage box will give him a much larger toileting space. Buying a labelled cat tray large enough is hard to do here, if you can find one at all the thing is VERY expensive! The storage boxes, otoh, are much less expensive.
