"Vintage" Cupboard

I purchased an unfinished cupboard and primed it. Next I painted it gold and then a coat of red. I made it look old by sanding areas where it might have been worn. I added 3 pictures from and old calendar with decoupage glue and varnished over to protect it.

That is adorable. Another thing I like is to use gel stain and rub it on then remove with a clean cloth. It darkens the color a little and makes it look aged also.

I have an old cabinet I am using for a pantry. I am going to try your idea this winter. I'll send you a photo (if mine turns out half as well as yours!)

Hi Carol,
What an artistically creative lady you are. Your cupboard is lovely and I'm sure very functional. This is a great
way to "redo" a vintage piece of wooden furniture or a brand new item the way you've done here.
It's all the rage in today's marketplaces like Etsy.com
and a few other places for selling handmade, altered and recycled materials.
You did a really fine job and your piece is both colorful
and fanciful. It will be so cheerful to live with.
Don't stop now...You are good!

All the best,
Julia in Coconut Creek, FL

Love your cabinet. I really like the prints that you chose from the calendar to decoupage!! You are a girl after my own heart, Carol.

What can I say that hasn't already been said. You have my highest praise for such an innovative project. I'm going to keep my eyes open for an old cupboard. Like the idea of the gold underneath.
