Keeping Your Bathroom Mirror From Fogging Up

Well I know everybody loves to have a hot shower or bath. And when you get out you like to look in the mirror, but you can't because it is all steamed up.

Now my favorite thing to do to prevent that is to put Colgate shaving cream on my mirror. It shines and prevents the steam from fogging it up. Just be sure to rub it in well and don't put too much. If you do, it will leave white streaks and it will be embarrassing. Now you will have to do this every 3 - 4 weeks or so but I do promise you it is worth it.

I heard that cleaning a mirror with shaving cream will stop it from getting foggy when one showers. I have tried this, but it gets foggy and gross all the same. Anyone know any secrets to a foggy free mirror?

I am tired of having to wait for the mirror to defog in the bathroom before being able to apply my make-up. ;)

Maybe it's the shaving cream you used but that trick does work (maybe it is a special kind of creme and that is why it fogs and gets yucky?). Another option would be Rain X Anti-fog. (03/16/2010)

This tip won't keep your mirror from fogging up in the first place, but using your hair dryer on it when it is already fogged up will defog it in just a few seconds. Hope this helps. (03/18/2010)

Use Rain X, the one with the fog stuff, it's for windshields but I've used it on shower doors after I clean them and they work great, you have to re-apply once in awhile. (03/19/2010)

Dawn Dish Detergent

I used to put shaving cream on my bathroom mirror until it started streaking after a few months and no matter what I did I could not clean the shaving cream off, until one day I sprayed dawn dish detergent straight out of the container. That not only cleaned the shaving cream off, but it also kept the mirror from fogging up. (12/17/2004)

Lemon Joy

Divers use Joy lemon dish soap right from the bottle to coat the inside of their dive masks to keep from fogging. The mask needs to be rinsed before using so I would assume a mirror would need it too. (01/03/2005)

Shaving Cream

Spread a little shaving cream on the mirror and wipe it off. No more fogging.

To keep your bathroom mirror from fogging up during showers, do this; Rub Barbosal Shaving Cream (it's the cheapest) over the entire mirror, then use dry paper towels and wipe clean. Fog free for a month.
