In Memory of Fancy (Himalayan)

Fancy was a five year old Himalayan. Fancy was given to me five years ago. She was given away because the owner didn't want her any more. Fancy was the perfect pet.

She was always trying to jump into your lap. She was kept inside and was great at catching mice. She loved laying on the porch swing. Fancy was always an inside pet, until last year when she got a taste of the great outdoors and wouldn't stay inside anymore.

Fancy was attacked in my yard by five big dogs. I heard the fight underneath the house. I couldn't find her until she dragged herself to the porch the next morning. She was completely covered in mud . You couldn't even tell that she was a cat. I cleaned her and tried to feed her, but she passed away the next day.

No matter what time of year, it is hard to lose a friend. I had a cat that was always out. She got into a fight with something--but I didn't try to care for her myself, I immediately rushed her into a vet. They shaved her fur, treated the wound, and gave her antibiotics.

She made it. I now have dogs, and am always with them. I know someone with cats who lets them out, even in the rain. I'll think about this. God Bless You and Fancy!

I am so sorry for you. I once had a kitty that looked just like yours. I called her "MUFF". My husband worked at a grocery store & someone had a litter of these beautiful cats & thought she wasn't show quality, so they threw her in the baling trash. This is the machine in the back of grocery stores, where they crush cardboard. She was only about 4 weeks old at the time. When my husband came home, he said he got something at work for me & reached into his pocket & came out with this very tiny baby. She slept each night around my neck, hence calling her muff. She had no voice & when she had babies, she had to work so hard to call them.

She was about 6 when one morning, she didn't come home.. We searched & searched, couldn't find her.......then the next morning, some people came to the door & said they found this cat, who was dead, in the neighborhood park. We had a tag on her collar with our name & address on it, so they knew where to find us. They found her in the morning during their morning walk, being drenched by the sprinklers. They brought her home for us, she must have passed in the night. Her body was crushed. We had these teenagers in the neighborhood, who raced their cars. We think they must have hit her during the night & she crawled into the park to die. I was so heartbroken. She was one of the best cats I ever had.

I understand how you feel & have my deepest sympathy. Kitties do love the outdoors. All those rodents to catch & trees to climb.

I remember Fancy. You posted her once before didn't you? I remember because I liked her name. I love all animals, big dogs included, but I cannot tolerate dogs that attack.

My heart goes out to you. Just remember that Fancy loved you back.

What a beautiful kitty! My heart goes out to you for your loss. Too often there are vicious dogs who will attack animals, and people. Cats can't always find a tree to climb, nor can they defend themselves against a pack of dogs. I hope people reading this will control their dogs. Any cat owners who allow their cats to roam free should rethink this policy. If reading this tragic story makes a difference. Then beautiful fancy did not die in vain! God bless you.

So very sorry for your loss. We had one like her, but male, named Apple Jack (like the children's cereal name). Jack was helped in passing because he had cancer within his mouth. It looked like a huge abscess. He and other furry babies are now over The Rainbow Bridge. Please look it up online if you have never read it, it does help to ease our souls.

God bless you & yours,

This story breaks my heart. I am so sorry. Please, please, all cat parents, keep your kitties indoors where they will be safe.
