Place Small Phone Book In Car

Our phone company delivers both large and small phone books when new ones are published. I put the smaller one under my car seat and use it to look up phone numbers when I'm out. I rarely use my cell phone provider's directory assistance service and save over $1.00 per call in charges this way.

You can use this number [1-800-FREE411] for free info calls, land-line or cell phones. You can also look up phone numbers on line at www.free411.com

I agree , the phone book in your car is a great ideal. I like to bargain shop , and sometimes I will actually do a short park and just make a few calls to find the best price while I'm out. Saves alot of miles, and time. I also like to make calls to place an order as I'm on the way to pick it up, I've used my phone book many times.

Now I've put one in my husbands car too...they don't take up much room, But, you may want to store it in a zip lock under the seat to keep it clean...

I do this too. Our phone books also have street maps of nearby towns and cities, which can be very helpful when you're driving. During the year, I add names and numbers and addresses and store hours. Even if you use the info just once or twice, it's a real timesaver.

You can order additional AT&T phone books at 1-800-346-4377. I think they're free for any city in your state.

For everyones information, there is a free information number--1800-373-3411. You can use it on your home phone or cell phone. If on your cell phone all you use is your airtime and not 1.49 or more.

You will need to listen to a small advertisement, but what the heck! Its better than 1.49 for a number.

The free information numbers sound great, but I was just wondering... How many telemarketers do they sell your number to when you call the free information numbers? ... Because every time you call an 800 number, they know the number you are calling from. There's bug bucks in selling lists of phone numbers.... They probably keep lists of what kind of phone numbers you ask for. Who knows? It's an "Information Age"!

---> YES, you can put your number on the "do not call" registry, this is good for 5 years. But this does not work for all numbers.

You can dial *67 before you dial the free number, this will block your number. It works on the cell and home phone.

You can also send a text message to google and it will text you back with the address and phone number of the buisness. Send it to the number 466453 (google)
e.g. sushi 45239 will return a list of sushi spots in the specified zipcode.
e.g. the sushi hut 45239 will return only the listing for that specific restaurant.

You can use the zip code or the name of the city, or, if you leave out the location information, it will return information for where your phone thinks you are, typically the city where you live, not necessarily the city you're currently located in.

There are some other cool features as well. You can learn about them at www.google.com/.../
