That sounds good but I can't believe your doors lock when key is still in switch. My doors will not lock so I have to take my keys out and I make sure they are in my hands before I shut the door. It is shocking how much it cost to get a second key. I need to get one for my car and I guess I will save up for it! LOL

Maybe the keys were taken out of the ignition and laid on the seat because she thought of something to do before leaving the car? I've done it.

What a great idea! We've got those crazy expensive keys like that and couldn't afford a spare. I didn't know you could get one that would only open the door like that.

Many times I forget the key in the car because I am busy gathering up stuff to take out. Since I can't stand the beeping, sometimes I will just pull the key out of the ignition a little. Or sometimes, I have dropped it on the seat and then forgotten it. I tend to be forgetful, and it is embarrassing to have to wait for AAA, especially after a job interview. So this spares my dignity.

The spare key that opens car door, but will not start it is a brilliant idea. After all the real key is available in the car - smile!

Did that on 2accasions lost both times

You can also unlock it with your cell phone if someone else has the spare key fob. It has to have the buttons on the spare key. You call the person who has the other one and have them ho!d the key up to cell phone and push unlock. It carries over the cell phones towers.

If you use a copy of your vehicle key, it may set off the car alarm when you use it to open your car. Just be prepared by learning how to shut off your car alarm.

There is a big possibility that the key will not work, but fits. Most of the newer cars code the key for the cars intended ignition. I'm sure some cars that are older, could maybe be able to enter the car but not start it.

Quick list of great places to hide a key

1. 1) Put a key in your sprinkler box under the lid.
2. 2) A magent key holder in the rain gutter down spout ( on the inside or bottom outside)
3. 3) Get a key lock-box and place it on the water spigot in back ( if you have one)
4. 4) if your car does not have a locking gas compartment place it there.
5. a) get neodymium rare earth magnet and glue it inside altoids box and
6. place it under car beyond the outer frame ( or under the hood )

7. 5) get an outside thermometer and place it in there.
8. 6) Put it in your Grille.
9. 7) take a stake with sign (beware of dog) and glue it to a pill bottle and place it in the soil.
10. 8) Come on people this is TOO EASY.!!!

There is so many ideas I could write these for hours!
