Be Flexible When Traveling

I've learned to be flexible when traveling by air. Flights are often overbooked and airlines will request volunteers who will give up their seat and take a later flight. By leaving some time in my schedule, my husband and I were able to score 2 free round trip tickets to anywhere in the continental US by waiting one hour for the next flight!

I have a cousin who does this all the time. As there are 5 people in her family, those free tickets come in mighty handy.

Last time my family and I traveled, we were offered a mere $100 discount with a one year limit to purchase tickets.
I said, "No!"
In fact, I pointed out we weren't going to be traveling for the next year and couldn't they extend the offer. They refused.

PS. Only do this if you are going to arrive at your destination at a reasonable hour. In our situation, it would have turned into 1:00 am with two little children.

I don't know who would have been crankier, me or them!
