I keep a roll of trash can liners in the bottom of the can. When I take the full one out to throw it away, the roll in the bottom of the can is right there. No searching or looking elsewhere for the roll. I do the same in the bathrooms, but I use grocery store bags and keep several wadded up in the bottom of each can.

A really great place to store your garbage bags are at the bottom of the can under the bag that you are currently using. Not only does this free up space under your sink, but they are more convenient stored this way.

I too store my garbage bags in the bottom of the garbage container but I don't put them all there. Once I had a leaky bag and it was near impossible to wipe down and dry all the plastic bags. Now I just put maybe 10 at the most in the bottom ~ when I get to the last one I put 10 more in. I also do this with the bathroom and bedroom wastebaskets. (12/02/2009)

I never buy special garbage bags for the wet garbage. I put an empty Kleenex box under the sink next to my small garbage pail to store plastic grocery bags. (I check that they do not have holes in them.) Those with small holes can still be used for use in bathroom trash baskets etc. where dry trash is collected. (12/05/2009)

Open up package of garbage bags and put the entire package of bags, minus the box, in the bottom of the garbage container. When one is full, just remove and the others are right there to use. Helps save a few steps. This is an old housekeeping trick and is a sign of a good housekeeper!

Sounds good IF you can keep your garbage can as clean as a whistle, mine never seems to stay that way for some reason, so I just use recycled plastic and paper bags from the store to put my garbage in. This works fine for me, plus: it's FREE! (04/17/2007)
As a housekeeper, I can say this is a great tip! I have always done this. It's so easy to pull out the full bag, rip it off and open the new one. At home, I use the plastic grocery bags from the store. I just leave some under the bottom of the bag, easy. I don't have to run and grab a new bag each time. And it's easy to simply wipe the bottom
up with a wet paper towel. The HARD part is getting my hubby to open a new one, whether they are stored in the bottom of the waist basket or not. lol (04/17/2007)
